Stage Kits or Aftermarket Injectors, Gas Mileage?
Stage Kits or Aftermarket Injectors, Gas Mileage?
Those of you who have the stage kits or who have aftermarket (42.5) injectors, have you run the car on a tank of "normal" driving? If so, how has it effected your mileage?
haha. i doubt anyone with a stage kit has done 'normal' driving yet. hell.. i dont even do normal driving and im stage-kit-less right now.
my guess would be a slight decrease in gas mileage if the person drives with moderation. based on what someone said with an intense stage 3 kit in another thread, driving with a heavy foot gave them an average of 16mpg (i believe, it was a while ago).
just dont expect the best mileage if you are tuning for performance. thats a given

Stage 2 gives worse gas mileage on the street but better on the highway, or any extended cruise. With the smaller pulley you can cruise in deeper vacuum and thus get better mileage. Also the added power allows you to accelerate aome and stay out of the boost, unlike before. The biggest killer of gas mileage in this car is 1st and 2nd, and before the upgrade 3rd for me. Now i can cruise in 3rd and actually get over 25mpg, which i could never do before. Obviously if you do more cruising than stop and go driving you will actually find improved gas mileage than before, stop and go kills it though.
For me i do a good deal of both and before i was getting about 24 mpg for a given week, and now i am getting over 25 (but this is still with quite a few spirited bursts and exhibition drives for my friends so i hope it goes up when i can keep out of it even more).
Yeah, milage shouldn't suffer much at all. The beauty of the supercharged engine is that you don't have to rev it to get power to do your every-day driving, unlike say, RX-8 or S2K. Nothing against those cars at all, but they eat up gas because they eat up revs.
I've actually been getting better milage. I am driving like I normally do, and before I was getting 18-20mpg in town. I am getting 22+ mpg in town right now, and I've been on the throttle a little more than normal. I haven't been on the highway yet though.
