convincing my mother...

So i am wanting to purchase an Injen CAI and might need some help pursuading my mom... Im sure i could just go ahead and buy it and put it on w/o her knowing but the car is in both of our names so i figure i should at least ask her. I ran it by her and she was out on her motorcycle about to continue their ride so she said we'd talk about it later. my main argument is that it will help gas mileage and since gas prices are rising, that is what i need, think she'll go for it?

If i were you, i'd go with the "BUT YOU NEVER HAVE TO CHANGE THE AIR FILTER!!!" defense Worked like a charm when i was 16 on my cavalier

not really sure maybe someone else can help me on this... i dont think that a cai will void the warranty. i know that would have been one of my moms first questions.

i would say as follows:

1) Saves gas
2) never change filter
3) better for the engine, (Less money spent on repairs)

If you have to ask your mother then maybe you should be honest with her and she will understand?

that's what i would do, but when you're 16 and have a brand new car, and tell your mom you want to make it faster, she may not go for it

yea just dont put it on her credit card behind her back, that'd be fucked. at least let her know the plus sides. she rides a motorcycle she's prolly pretty badass and will let you.

I'm picking up my CAI today. I called my dealership and they told me that it will not void my warranty. They said that they don't mind when customers do small modifications like an intake, strut bar, etc. You can check with your dealer to make sure, but I'm sure it'll be the same. That's a positive note you can hit when selling the idea to her.

Other than that, go with what everyone said. Better gas milage, blah blah blah. I always liked the "I'm freeing up the natural power that my engine should have" approach.
