I'm headed down to Cecil County Dragway tonight

I've had the itch to run the car for awhile now and I don't feel like waiting for the cooler weather. The weather is a good 40 degrees warmer than the last time I ran i'm still hoping for some solid 13 second passes. Cecil's track prep isn't the greatest on Wed. nights and that's my biggest worry. We'll see...wish me luck!

Yeah it's still stock.

Welp, just as I feared the track prep wasn't there. I thought this car didn't mind the heat so much as the computer compensates with more boost...I was wrong. The car would only hit 14psi for torque and than top end of the gears it would hit almost 18psi. Compared to my last passes down the track in November it was down 1.5mph and I didn't need to shift into 4th tonight.

I could bog it and it got a 2.22 60ft
Launch it good and smooth at 2000rpm and it would start spinning after 3000rpm in first 2.24 60ft
Launch Control netted another 2.22 60ft

Regardless of what I did the car would only get a low 2.2 60. I also tried to reset the computer and remove the air filter just for ***** and giggles. The car ran its slowest time of a 14.2 at 101mph and it didn't like that at all. My best pass of the night was a 13.9 at 102.8 and that's all she had in her tonight.

I had two grudge runs against some friends. One has an 04 f250 that ran a 14.3 at 94 and I won that one. The other has a 96 Impala SS with a few bolt ons and he went 13.9 at 100 to my 14.0 at 102.8. We had equal reaction times and he got out a car and a half to about 1/8th mile. By the time the 1/4 was up I could only pull back a half car length and I lost by a car. Def good times.

sounds like a good time regardless of the heat and track prep. And those times aren't too terrible. At least you weren't struggling just to run 14's like some people I've seen post.

I'm a bit disappointed with the GM stage kits so if I do anything it will be tuned with HP Tuners. I'd like to wait for the fall weather so I can run the car again stock.

The spare is still in it. I don't think there is too many tricks I could do to get it in the 13.4s with cooler weather. When I ran the 13.5 I had the rear tire pressure jacked and the front lowered alittle with cool air and nice track prep. For myself to get another pass like that will take luck, a tailwind, and the planets to align. I'll take the spare out but the rest of the car is staying full weight.

How would a gallon or two of race gas(110) mixed with 93 work on the ss/tc? I've read where stock cars still pull 1-3 degrees of timing due to knock retard and the mix of alittle race gas would prevent that. I know it's not going to give alot but if I gained 2hp at the track I would do it

Who was the yellow ss/sc with the high rise at Cecil last night?

Sweet run man. Seems that track prep is everything, otherwise the TC won't dip lower than high 13's.
