That is pretty good, if you are driving an SS/TC, especially for a stock car and it's your first time driving a stick. A 9.7 is a low to mid 14 second 1/4 mile time, but for a 1st timer you cant beat that. I'm running in the 9.1-9.2's with my tuned SS/TC, but my local track sucks and isnt ever prepped. With some DR's or a better track I'm expecting 8.6-8.7's.

a 9.7 would be a low 15 lol. a 9.2 is a low 14. i know this cause when my sc was stock i was pulling 14.2's every time. and every 1/8 would be 9.2-9.3 if you expect a low 14 1/4 with a 9.7 1/8 it better backhalf like a mother ******

I believe that is what I meant to say, LOL. Well I figured a 9.7 in the 1/8 would be a high 14, not low 14 like I put.
