Drawbacks to powdercoating rims??

any possible problems with powdercoating our stock 18'' RIMS? i keep hearing about shops that "break" our rims or something when dismounting or mounting??? what the heck is that all about? and how there are problems with the tire pressure monitoring systems??

speaking of, what are the tpms anyway , are they little devices mounted on the inside of our rims?

and what is the difference between powdercoating and painting? people keep talking about powercoating calipers also. is the powdercoating good for life??

No drawbacks, there is no better option than powdercoating. Only a retard would break the rim.

x2 I got mine done and I am always going to powdercoat my wheels from now on. So nice and easy to keep clean!

Just make sure you take to a reputable place to take wheels off. TPMS is a sensor mounted on each wheel, obviously they need removed before powdercoating, With powder coating they basically sand blast each wheel to bare metal, pressure clean them, powdercoat them, and then bake them in a oven. Basically looks way better and lasts way longer than regular paint.

As long as you strip the wheel down yourself, you'll be fine.

Anyways, the only major downside to powdercoating is the cost.

there are 2 types of TPMS sensors used today, one is a band sensor that to my knowledge only ford uses, the other is a small sensor on the inside of the wheel connected to the valve stem

look at the valve stem on ur wheels, if u have a metal valve stem with a nut on it then u have a TPMS valve sensor
