drivers side headlight problem

when ever i start my car at night..(i have 8k hids) my left headlight wouldnt turn on..the halos and leds would but not the light itself...so i would turn the lights off then back and they both hids came on just fine and would stay on till the car would be turned off...

well that was then and now my left headlight wont come on at all not even the hi beam...

but if i turn the hi beams on back to lo beams the hids come on but very rarely...same for hi's...

is it bad wiring???

bump

if your cobalt has the option to pull the drl fuse. pull it it might end your problem... some balts had drl as the headlights, the drl power current isnt the same amount of power as if you had your lights turned on.

you shouldnt have to go to the dealer ship, just contact the place where you bought your hids from, they will tell you what wire you have to upgrade or they will sell you a relay kit to add to your car to make them work. try pulling your drl fuse first i have seen that work before for a few people, if you have the option to do that cause you cant on all balts, the fuse is a 10amp red in the fuse box under the hood. if you car has it

07,08,09 have the drl fuse. if you have a late production model 05 you'll need the relay kit i believe. i have a early model 05 ss/sc and i dont have any issues, same with my 09 i didnt need a relay, i would get in contact with the company that makes your ballast and order the relay kit, i had to do it on my malibu and my buddy with a TBSS had to do it also along with the two 06ss balts

its high or low from what i under stand from the page, not both, those bulbs look really funny thou weird. do you have the hid filiment and another small bulb next to it

my buddy with the 06 only had low beam hid's cause low beam is hid and the high is not as bright and looks like a drl, and my 05 had the dual beam but, i replace them after i had a low beam fail after 3 years, and just got a low beam cause you'll never use the high beam.

Two things here:

First... put the problematic HID kit into the side that you KNOW to work. Doing this will rule out a bad ballast/bulb.

If the one from the problematic side works fine when swapped, then it is an issue with power delivery on the other side of the vehicle and using a Relay harness should help the issue.

Now if it gives you issues when put in the working side, then it is a bad ballast and should be replaced.
