Exclamation Couple of questions

Hey whats going on, got a couple of questions for you guys, just got the SS almost two weeks ago and couple things bugging me, maybe normal maybe not..

First thing is the gear box or something makes a knock noise when i let go of the clutch, ive had 3 other manual cars and never heard this before, maybe someone can chime in on this??this happens sometimes not all the times and in diff gears.

Second is the information system on the car, is this stuff really accurate?? I have not seen the MPG go more than 20.1 so far but from my last tank i calculated more, not as much as i would like probably from me beating on it since its new, but maybe not?? So does anyone ever see this go more than that?? will the gas milage get better over time, cause i was expecting more.

I hear a ticking noise from the engine bay, its my first turbo car so im not sure if it some other component in the bay that im not use to that is making this noise but it goes makes a faster noise when i accelerate. At first i was thinking it was the gas the dealer put into the car from the getgo but ive gone through a tank and a half with the same thing going on.

Whats the INS MPG in the info display, seems to go all over the place.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help out!!

yea mine does that too. is it when you are kinda letting it out kinda fast? if you dont do it smoothly enough it will sound like that. but you having other stick cars... idk

oh and the ticking is the direct injection. is it loud outside the car too?

Reset that after you fill up. It usually reads about half to 1 MPG more than I actually get. If you don't reset, it's just going to keep avearaging all the driving done, so it won't be as accurate at the next fill up.

The Ticking noise you hear is the Direct Injection, normal. See sticky.

I always felt like the avg mpg was only for the last certain amnt of miles, say 1000. I dunno, I feel like it changes a lil too much to really be since day 1. How are u resetting it?

That is something common of clutchs that are more heavy duty. When I drive my dad's corvette it makes the same knock. Sure you can eliminate it by being superhuman smooth with clutch intake but it's definitely nothing to worry about. Plus I think it adds an extra aural element to the blowoff valve and crackling exhaust. mmm cobalt heaven.

The knocking noise when letting off the clutch fast is normal. I had them look it when doing my rear brakes.

i have an 08 and i dont believe mine has that. i read it front to back the night i got the car. i believe they acknowledged its existence with the 09s. i remember being very afraid to do it cause it wasnt in the manual. asked guys in service at dealership bout it...they looked at me like i just dropped my pants and stuck a thumb up my ass right in front of them.

Then your dealership sucks because my '08 came with additional print-out documents that mention everything on the 08 that was not in the manual short of information specific to the 2.0s engine layout, etc. Remember the 08s didn't come out until the model year was almost done. In fact, I asked for an 09 Cobalt manual instead and they happily provided me one.
