Ahh, I was close.

What's it's purpose? I know the 2.2L SC swaps don't utilize this.

it allows the LSJ PCM to do things like boost reduction in first gear, etc.

no it is not. the peice shown is a boost controll solonoid, used on supercharged and turbocharged applications through various gm cars. they are turned on and off via the pcm, they controll the wastegate (turbo app) or in this case, blower bypass valve. the boost gauge is a signal comming from the pcm and the pcm uses the map sensor for that.

Oops my bad. I am no longer supercharged and I was certain that it was the solenoid for the boost gauge. Thanks for clarifying!
