Gatorback Belt
As of right now Goodyear's division (Gatorback) hasn't made a belt. The plus side of having a gatorback is if they make a smaller one than stock to pick up slippage from smaller pulleys. It can always be counterrd w/o a smaller belt by getting a larger idler pulley and most smaller s/c pulleys are made to grip great.
Stage 2 of course has a smaller belt. A double-sided belt isn't going to be cheap when they release it though.

i had one on my 00 cougar and everyone thought it was supercharged. once you got up over 3000 rpms it sounded like a vortech. those cars are well know for belt slippage, they slip so bad it make loud noises at times. after the gatorback install, it never did it again.
i'mn sure mercury is familiar with the cougar/belt problems.... heck all of us cougar owners were

Seriously though, the belt itself won't make the blower louder, it will just made another sound in addition to the blower.
