Insurance for my new SS
Insurance for my new SS
I will be getting a 2009 cobalt ss fully loaded minus the rpd (after market rpd is fine with me tho easy to shuffle from car to car) After owning a 96 lumina ls for 7 years, this is a new experience for me. Needless to say I'm trying to limit the costs and with my lumina i only had liability insurance. So my inexperience with all the other bells and whistles an agent will whisper in my hear is a problem. Any ideas the best way to protect my investment and primary car? I wouldn't be able to replace it in the worst case.
Thanks in advance! this forum kicks butt.

the SS is one of the top 10 most expensive cars to insure. The sedan will be cheaper to insure than the coupe. I have a $250 deductible so my monthly insurance is high but I know friends with $1000 deduct. and they pay over 50 less than I do a month.
Yea its funny I was looking at an forced induction car and my choices were the wrx or this and the wrx was one of the top ones so I went to the ss and within a month I seen how they rated the ss one of the most expensive cars to insure. I know I pay around 88/month full-coverage which is a lot cheaper than my explorer...120/month.
I'm not sure how the SS is supposedly expensive to ensure. For my 2006 S/C I pay 75% of what I paid for my '99 Toyota Tacoma for TWICE the coverage (25k/50k to 50k/100k) and lower deductibles ($250/1000 to $100/500).
yeah but whats your deductible, are you still under your parents insurance ie. umbrella discount, what year SS, full coverage, student discount? **** once you get out of college you are F'd. I pay about that for full coverage on my 09 SS coupe full coverage with $250 deductible.
My SS didn't cost any more to insure than anything else I picked except the Honda Civic Si, which was MORE expensive.
My insurance company is stupid...and I'm sure I *could* get a better rate, but they were screwing me on anything I bought, so since the price was the same on everything, I said screw it, I'm getting a performance car.

Not sure about just my SS, but for my car and my wife's Corolla I pay about $100/mo. I think my deductibles are at $500, but I'm not sure...
Of course, the last ticket I had was about 9yrs ago and my wife has never had one, so...

wow lots of great news. as i mentioned i haven't had anything by liability, i'm not concerned anymore. years ago my grandfather said an insurance payment can be as much as a car payment. i'm still waiting on my car the clunker rebate is taking forever to pay down to the dealership.
