Factory amp with Aftermarket HU

I want to get a new Head Unit for my 05 SS/SC, and I am curious if the harnesses out there utilize my factory installed Pioneer amp, or if they use the HU's amp outputs?

Bump.

Anyone?

I was just checking out the wiring instructions for a HU I want and I have another part to my question.

The harness wires on this HU are NOT pre-amp and are powered by the HU. So, I obviously can not connect those to the Metra 70-2103 adapter harness. Right? Because that adapter ngoes into the factory Pioneer amp. So, I would need to connect the pre-out RCA connections on the HU to the Metra Harness.

Right?

What about my sub? Does that need to be wired, or is there a crossover somewhere in the factory Pioneer setup?

Nothing too complicated involved in replacing the factory radio. Don't know if you already did it or not, but you just need an installation kit and wiring harness. We use Bestkits at my shop. Part numbers - Double Din- BKGMK352 or BKGMK350 for a single din with pocket. Harness is made by PAC - C2RGM11B for non onstar. OS-311B for cars with onstar. BAA4 for your antenna adaptor. It's all just plug and play. Happy installing.
