Ticking Noise under the hood

Hey peeps, this is my first post. I guess it just wouldn't be right if I didn't post a problem right?

Any ways, just recently got an 05 SS SC, and I got a ticking coming from the top right part of the engine. Know it's not a pulley, checked everything out with a stethoscope.

I know it's not the injectors. Stock injectors, but sounds like a lifter is sticking. Doesn't happen until the car warms up, and as soon as you go above 2.5k RPM it's no longer noticable. Specifically at idle.

Any one have any thoughts? Most likely the lifter?

Low oil pressure at idle.
But if only in one spot ,then I will have to concur on your Diagnosis.
Take the cover off and take a look.

I had a 96 camaro that did the same thing for the most part, except it was the complete opposite. When it was cold, the lifter stuck hardcore and it knocked real loud. Once it warmed up or got some new oil, it was fine.

Not sure if the same should apply to the ecotecs or not, but revving while idle the ticking just increases in speed, but while driving in gear above 2.5k you hardly notice it.

I don't notice a loss of power. Any one know the difficult level of replacing the lifters on these?

::UPDATE::

I have a friend who just happens to be a Cobalt Enthusiast, and he told me that if you use premium fuel prior to getting a stage 1+ upgrade (or if you're bone stock), it can make your engine knock.

Any one think that's a possibility?

Dude, make sure your spark plugs are secure and have been threaded properly. If one sparkplug hasnt been threaded from factory properly it will dislodge... Right before it does you will notice a progressively louder "ticking", (Prbly #4 sp) Cheers mate

not the dreaded timing chain tensioner problem is it?

most, if not all, LSJs have had this issue....GM has released an updated tensioner

I replaced mine....see my thread on this issue and watch the video
