Want to paint my stock rims

So I wanna paint my stock 17" rims black but I want a polished look, not flat. Any suggestions on how to do this and what materials to use?

theres a thread on this..just use duplicolor gloss black and clear top coat.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/how-paint-stock-rims-eurochevy-edition-pics-114387/

I did mine a lil different. cleaned it by hand not pressure wahser (dont have one)
Use 180 grit for initial sanding and 1000 or so for getting defects (trash) out after a coat. we did 4 coats of black and then 2 gloss.

My finished product.

For a VERY deep effect use a nightshades type transparent candy black, over chrome or heavy metallic silver.

do you plan on prepping it correctly? If no then yes they will chip if you sneeze on them.
If yes, then you wont have any problems

Ya i have a question for people that spray paint their rims. I have yet to get an answer. What has happened or is gonna happen when you get you're tires changed? Wont the tire machine make a huge mess of paint coming off? Powdercoat them IMO.

why are tire machines ******* your guys rims up? the machines arent made to touch the rim or else every single rim on the road would have a scratch on the outside lip. They might as well come manufactured that way. The stock rims are painted. Were they all fucked up when you bought the car? If the guy changing your tire doesnt have a handicap you should be fine. Iv mounted tires before. You put the arm up to the rim, and when you let go of the button, it moves away from the rim like 1/8" so the rim can rotate freely without the machine touching it. Mine were fine. Brought them to firestone. **** the pic in my sig was like a week after i got my new NITTO's.

It's not just easy as pie to change tires without scratching the rims. It does take time and consideration to do it without damaging them. Just wondering is all. I just powedercoated my rims because the factory paint job on my rims was crap. They didn't touch the rim face takeing my tires off but it still peeled the paint off the bead. But from what i read the factory wheels weren't painted very well. Thats why i was asking about spray paint. It wouldn't take much to damage them.
