ss/tc lower??? worth it?
ss/tc lower??? worth it?
ok so its probably on here 500000 times already but search doesn't work on my work computer. who is running sportlines on their tc and are there any rubbing issues, or shock wear concerns i should be aware of?
Sportlines are softer than stock TC springs...
They are definitely not the best handling spring out there.
As a matter of fact, they are worse than stock.
So far the only drop spring that offeres better/more controlled handling is Pedders
i would say that the stock setup is pretty kick ass...why f&*k with it??? front looks good.....back......well its kinda high but its gives it a stance that if you look at the car the right way looks good to me
I'm starting to hear more people talking about Pedders.
If I lowered mine, I wouldn't want to give up a bunch in other areas just for what amounts to a visual mod. I'd want to at least keep the same handling. This is great if it actually improves it too.
Are the springs what you're referring to? I'm looking at them and they are more than other options, but it may be worth it if the handling is as good or improved beyond what it already is. Does anybody on here already have them that has pics they could show of the drop?

It isn't like they randomly pick springs and kinda hope for the best....
Glad to be back to stock springs.
Funny to be higher off the ground and get less braking dive.

Christ people are **** suckers to eachother on this site.
OP, what are you looking for? a nice clean looking car that handles damn well? Get Sportlines. They have a more progressive spring rate then stock, which means they compress easier in the beginning which gives it a more comfterble ride but become stiff as **** when compressed a bit more. Most all springs are this way or else its like your riding on blocks.
PEDDERS ARE THE BEST HANDLING SPRING, NOT THE BEST LOOKING SPRING. If you track your car all the time and say "**** appearance i wanna shave that 1/2 second off my time" then get pedders. If you find youself crusing around town alot, going to meets, and walking away from your car and doing the look around and saying "damn thats sexy" I would recommend sportlines. They may handle SLIGHTLY worse then stock, but theres NO PROOF if this is even true or what the difference is. There is no lap time with stock springs vs sportline springs that we can compare to. People just assume, "well there softer and that must mean crappy." But for the price of the Pedder springs alone, you can pick up a set of sportlines and a time attack rear sway bar and once again have better handling then stock, a sexy looking ride, and a monster around the corners
And please dont honestlybase your choice on my opinion, or the opinion of a guy with an angry dog saying do it faggit as a avator, but just look at the concensus of what brand spring people own, and if there happy with their product or not.
Like I said, the choice comes down to what your looking to do with your car

most of what you say is right but on the track pedders much faster than sportlines (and I got sick of coil binding over the smallest bumps and turns). stopwatch dont lie. i am on the track a couple dozen times a month, different tracks. pedders. rock.
I said they handle better, i made sure i put it in their!
^^^ you mean THERE!
Well of course a nice set of coils would be great. If I were to do any suspension it would be a set of coils instead of just springs.

Okay, Im sure I will get flamed for this but here goes. What are peoples opinions on the Eibach Pro Kit for the SS/TC? It says it lowers 0"F and 0.5"R, I think this would be perfect. I want to reduce a little bit of the rear fender gap but I dont want to hurt the excellent suspension. I DONT WANT THE FRONT LOWERED AT ALL which is why I want the Pro Kit, 0.5" Rear would be perfect. Would the Pro Kits hurt the handling or ride? Thanks to everyone!

Someone in this thread already found out the proof.
I also know how UNCONTROLLED the car is at the limit with sportlines versus stock. Also, how the **** would a sway bar make the springs be more controlled? Trust me, doing ANY handling mods is counterproductive/waste of money if you run sportlines.
This is from experience. The are TOO soft in the beginning of the progression and give the 'old buick' bouncing under hard cornering.
Pedders drop more than stock and have better rates than stock. Also they sit decently low. I have seen my car with sportlines parked next to a car with Pedders's springs with minimal difference.
If you honestly give a BIG **** about handling, pony up the green and get the pedders or stay stock.
If you want just a lower car that will still handle decent, get the sportlines, just know that you handle better stock, and the little bit of COG change isn't enough to offset the weaksos rates.
Sportlines aren't bad, but even Eibach says their prokit handles better.
Springs and coils are the same thing.
CoilOVERS are what you mean.

IMO stay stock, and if you are worried about handling, pedders or bust.
