5/60k Powertrain Warranty Information for the 05 'Balts

I just discovered that I have my 5/60k warranty for my powertrain today. Imagine my enthusiasm and excitement, since my 2nd gear grinds and/or slips when I floor it in first and shift down into 2nd.

I have a couple of friends in the area who have experienced tranny failures, and have had their entire tranny replaced with the g85 tranny. Now, whether or not they're lying, I don't know. Any one else fortunate enough to experience this? If so, I think it's time to melt the clutch and blow the tranny =)

i wouldn't go out and try to fry your clutch and trans. if they find any signs of "abuse" they will void your warranty and you will end up paying 3000 for a new trans and clutch

If you bought the car used they won't honor the 5/60K mile powertrain warranty . We had a person here that went threw it and GM states that the warranty is non transferable on 05-06 models . Maybe you will luck out thou.

That's what I heard too, and if it's true, I would love to get my tranny replaced, instead of buying an aftermarket LSD.

Dumb question maybe, but is the clutch covered under the powertrain warranty, or is it specifically for the tranny? (I always assumed they were both covered under it) until a GM dealer told me it wasn't.

clutch is a wear item, unless its something like a pressure plate failure.

the factory 5/60 (or in my case 5/100km) powertrain warrenty is transferable, says it right in my paperwork. if you purchased an extended warrenty from the dealer it may be non transferable, it may not even be a gm warrenty.

I think the person called GM customer service and asked after i told him about the powertrain warranty. He said they told him it wasn't transferable as did his dealer. I always thought it was transferable until that thread.

EDIT. I found the thread by searching transferable lol
