Winter Wheels - Edmonton Area

Hi guys,

I'm currently in the hunt for winter wheels for my car. I seem to keep running into dead ends and I'm wondering if any of you know of some place locally I can get a decent deal on winter wheels/tires or simply just tires to go onto the factory rim. I really don't want to put winter tires on the stock rims but as time passes on, it looks like more of a reality every day. I'd love to find a set of 17" SS/G5 wheels but they don't seem to be any easier to find.

Any thoughts or advice?

As far as I've read (which is a lot), 16" rims will NOT fit over the brakes.

How much are you willing to spend? I found a set of wheels for an OK price, better than anywhere else local, and I've looked everywhere.

I picked up a set from Carmodifier.com, Fast Wheels Salsa 17" with 205/50/17 Barum Polaris 2 tires for $1498 mounted, balanced, all hardware included and shipped after taxes...You should be able to get the same price, the haven't changed.

I haven't tried the rims on my car but another member says he had them on his TC. I'm pretty damn sure they fit.

Hey,

I have a set of 16" winters that I took off my 07 SS S/C. The tires on them are Gislaved Nordfrost which are a studded tire. I drove on them for two seasons Oct-March and ever tore off one stud, so they hold up well and grip like nothing else.

I paid $1500 for the set, so if you want them I'll let them go for 750. Let me know.

Thanks

Yep, what he said. I actually have my own 16" wheels with winters for sale. I really wish I had opted for the 17's back in the day...

Oh well. Just need to figure out where I can get a good deal on a set of winters for my 18's. I've actually thought about just buying a good set of all seasons and swapping that on for the conti's. I hate having summer only tires. They should have never sold them like that in Canada.

Well, looks like I solved my problem. I have a brother in law from out of town who owns a tire shop. He just spoke with a company today who is releasing winter wheels (17" alloy) for our cars in a few weeks. I am getting it at his cost (less than $150 per wheel) plus a great deal on good winter tires. So at least I'll have my winter set and won't have to mess around with off sets and proper fitment.

Thanks to all for the advice and I'll post once I have the wheels/tires and know more about them.

This is what my new winter wheels will look like:

They aren't officially out yet but they should be coming out in the next couple of weeks. I think they should look pretty good on my sedan, especially considering they will be just for winter...
