WTF!! 5th gear is hard to get into?!
So i noticed the other day that while shifting it felt a little different. well after a while it stopped wanting to go into 5th gear. in order to get it into 5th i have to lift up the reverse lever and get it into 5th then let go and the reverse lever falls down. So its almost like 5th gear/ all my gears moved over to the right a lil bit... What would cause this? anybody know?
Could've messed up the shifter cables (linkage) (typically happens when you shift too hard). From what I hear it's usually worse, like you lose 2nd and 4th, or 1st, 3rd and 5th...
I do find that 5th is not "hard" for me to get into, but it is quite a bit to the right to get in there...it's so damn close to 3rd.

I've had it happen to me with reverse . I had to sit in a parking spot and keep messing around for 10 minutes one time. Then like magic it just dropped right in and i haven't had a problem since . Very weird.
yeah i seen ur post on a diff. thread. not gonna make me too happy if it is. lol! i dont even know where to look to see if a bolt is loose. and now to make matters worse my effing check engine light came on! wtf! this car is really pissing me off. I knew i shoulda just got me a 67-69 Camaro like i wanted to do...
so i just checked the tranny moutn bolts and they are fine... so i guess ill take it in 2morro and see what they say. Ugh! this car is a pain in my ass!

I just looked again and it doesnt look bent to me. if it is its gotta be a real slight bend. hopefully thats whats wrong with it.

Well i got it all fixed!! took it to the dealership 2day now that the Transmission guy is finnaly of vacation. Turns out a couple bolts were missing from somewhere. He said hes not sure if they were ever in there. lol! Now it feels totally different. its all stiff and feels nice and tight, while before it was all sloppy. Yay! im excited!!
The shifter cables are adjustable by taking out the cup holder and releasing the tab on the cable ends. You can then adjust the shifter position. If you are to far to the left with the shifter you will not be able to get 5th gear, also if the cables are adj. to far you will not be able to lock the tab back in on the cable end. Just some place to start. Did you check to see if the cables were bent?
l8r,
