Greetings from a new SS owner

Hello to all. I have been learking around this site for quite some time but didn't want to post until I actually had my new car on the road. This is one awesome site and full of good information.

I was lucky and found myself a brand new 2008 silver cobalt SS coupe. It has black interior and is fully loaded (sunroof, LSD, 6 disc, spare, smoker package, etc). The only option it didn't have was the high wing and honestly i like it with the low profile wing better. Today was her maiden voyage and what a thrill it was to drive this car. I'm 33 but felt like a kid in the candy store everytime I would leave a light or hit a curve. I couldn't wipe this stupid smile off my face.

Anyway I am actually shocked how smooth this rides but maybe that is because I came from a 95 eclipse with 200K miles on it. Not a rattle to be heard and is just smooth as silk. I can only imagine what this car turns into with some mods and a tune but at least until I get her broken in I couldn't be happier with this car bone stock.

Thanks for having such a great website and I hope to be able to contribute myself in the near future.

Hey man congrats on your new car. You need to get some pictures of your car up online.

I slam my door all the time and nothings gone wrong. I only get rattles when something is loose in the car. Generally my fiance leaving something laying around... I have almost 17k miles on my 08 now.

The car turs into a beast once you get it tuned.

Compared to my 140 horse eclipse i came from this car is a beast to me in stock form

The tune that Trifecta offers looks like a great choice. I love the fact you can drive on the factory tune but just hit a button and gain 40+ horses. Is he the only one that offers that option where you can switch on the fly between tunes?

Welcome!

Also a 30 something here, and enjoy my car very much. As others have said........... the rattles will come, and sooner than you'd like :X

5600 miles on my car and its got some pretty good ones heh.

I waited awhile to mod mine just to make sure all the bugs were shaken out, but I can tell you doing a tune REALLY woke the car up. Looking back I most likely wouldn't have waited so long. Using HP Tuners in my case.

37 years old here and loving my Sedan. It's hard to get used to the nice ride of this car, I had an SRT-4 and it would crack your back over broken asphalt. This car just soaks it up. Rides more like a BMW to me than an American car. Mine rattles when I get up to speed on the highway but I just turn up the stereo a little more.

Welcome!

Yeah, the gains with just a tune with this car are just incredible. My friend had nothing but a K&N Air Filter and a tune on his SS sedan and put around two cars on a manual 2010 Camaro SS

That might be that panel to the left of where the passenger's feet would be. I took mine in for it, they put some more foam there, and haven't heard a peep from it since.

Welcome to the site! I just recently got my car (10 days ago) as well and have been enjoying every minute with it and finding every excuse to get out for a drive. I'm 32 myself and coming from a 1999 BMW 328i and this car drives as well and better in every aspect. Absolutely incredible. I'm keeping her bone stock till the spring most likely.

Yeah - Welcome. I'm a newbie to the site, and just found myself a loaded 2008 SS with 8K miles 2 days ago. I'm an old guy too, 37. I had to pick it up 800 miles away, so I got a nice long drive.

I've been driving a Buick Regal GS for about 7 years, so you can guess how it felt taking the SS through the mountains and twisties, ignoring all those "reduce speed" around corners suggestions.

I'm holding on off any mods for now until I can look at all the options...

Matt

Welcome, I'm new to the site as well. I know what you mean...I came from a 1995 Toyota Corolla with 240k...what a difference. I'm 34 and this is my first American car so I hope I have a good experience, but so far I'm loving it! I only have 1600ish miles on my car so far and I'm waiting for the rattles everyone keeps talking about. The only complaint I have so far is the paint. It seems to scratch and chip very easily. I have more faith in a fruit roll up sticking to my ass on a hot summer day than I do in the paint staying on this car! lol

First thing I did was wax my rims and the front clip and hood when I got the car. I have just over 1,000 highway miles now and no chips... so far... I'll go knock on wood...
