halo ring
What gen lights do you have?
You could also buy some ccfl haloes from ebay, here is a how to on that and i believe links to the ebay items.
I just replaced my leds on my 1st gens, it was 2 3mm white leds on the halos, so 8 total, i could only find 4v leds so you will need to buy resistors or you will burn them out.

are the 3 leds on the top area or bottom?

you have first gen projectors, take out the assembly and then the bulb, you should see the wires for the halos in there. there is a rubber boot that you can pull out, when you do that you will see 2 leds soldered to a pcb board, you will have to desolder these leds and resolder new ones on to it.
If you get 4v leds (i ordered mine from superbrightleds) you will need to buy resistors for them (i used 240 ohm) you solder this resistor inline to the positive side.
I do alot of soldering so it wasnt that hard for me to do, you will need a soldering gun some solder and some desoldering ribbon ( the ribbon is just some copper braided wire that sucks the old solder into it).
I am going to be replacing these halos with the ccfl halos soon, you may just want to unhook them for now if you dont think you can do it.

I had to do this to make my halos red. The whole soldering and desoldering is easy. The REAL pain in the ass part is putting the LED/PCB boards back in the head light...lol
If you want different color halos this is all you have to do. Its real simple. I got my leds from superbrightleds.com. 3mm ones. I put'em on they own switch and everything. I'd love to see someone else with different color halos like green or something. I think id be cool. While you guys are doing this you should do a How-To. I had a few people ask me to do a how to on changing the color but im really not in the mood to take my lights out again
