I have an idea for the front bow tie!

So, to those of you that have painted your front bowtie by separating the gold from the chrome, is it possible to sand off the gold from the back of the bowtie once it is taken apart? I am thinking that if I can remove the gold from the inside then I can paint the inside black and get a wonderful finish that will not wear off!

Sounds like a good idea, I'd like to see it done!

Yeah, I looked at it again, I think you are right, IT looks like there is another layer of gold in there but it is not on the surface, well I will still try.

I did that with both bow ties. Gold was coming off anyways cuz off the wash/weather. I did paint both inside and out look good to.

Sort of off topic but.....how DO you seperate the center from the "chrome"?

"Cook" for a few minutes on low heat like the headlights? Or do you just pry them apart?

Got an idea I want to try but I need to split the damn thing first
