oil pan

oil pan

has anybody had much trouble trying to get there oil pan off. im installing forged aluminum pistons and having a helluva time getting my pan off. i believe i have all of the bolts off but its stuck fast!

It is RTV'd all the way around...makes for a good seal...

You didn't miss any bolts did you?

I would personally use a screwdriver and try to gently break the seal. I wouldn't use a lot of force unless you're dead sure you have all of the bolts out.

Yea, I had to use a screw driver but I was positive everything was out. Did you get the one that bolts to the IC pump?

the pan is set on dowel pins and it fits very tight around them take a rubber mallet and smack the pan a couple of times then use a screwdriver on an edge to start seperating the pan from the block and dont use just any sealant get the gm stuff made for the job so you dont have any leaks

im sure i have all of the bolts out including the IC pump. i did smack it hard with a rubber hammer but i guess ill have to keep trying...
