To the dealership I go....

...tomorrow at 7am for my Stage 1! I got the call today saying the kit is in. Unfortunately, Im a Paramedic and I have a 16hr shift tomorrow. So, Ill be dropping it off in the morning and picking it up first thing Saturday...at least Ill have it for the weekend .

For those of you that havent seen my other thread, I got the kit for $500 through my dealer, and theyres doing the whole install (hard parts and flash) for $125... so my grand total is $625 for everything!!!

Cant wait until Saturday morning! Stay tuned for the results! (hopefully the dealer doesn't @$%! anything up)

What dealer did you go to? Mine is completly clueless about the car. When I asked them about the stage kit they asked me if that involved changing pullies. Let me know how the install goes, I'm going to get the stage kit in the spring after I take my car out of storage.

Lannan Chevrolet in Woburn. If you want Ill refer you. Thats where I go for all my warranty work. They do pretty good work (for a stealership). I had one issue after a repair, but they were good about straightening it out

They too were pretty clueless about the SS Cobalt when I first started going there. But Ive educated them as we go, and at least now theyre aware that this car exists haha. As far as everything else goes, they can look it up. Ive got them all ready for you though, if you go there they already know all about the stage kit now.

I was going to, but when I talked to the service manager, he offered to do the whole install for $125. Thats cheap enough that Im willing to pay that rather than mess with the wiring harnesses myself. I know I could do it, but for such a cheap price Id rather save myself some time....plus now if anything goes wrong with the actual Stage kit parts it will be covered under warranty... if I installed it myself it would not be. And the whole point of getting this kit is warranty right?

Although I will feel bad haha, I was planning on going with an SMG tune but caved at the last second. I had even talked to Fred Jr. a couple weeks ago about coming in for a tune. Like I said I caved....Im a warranty *****

I am having the same issue with my dealership. For the past 2 days I have been schooling them on the kit and they first gave me the excuse that its is going to void my warrnty. When i showed them you can order a new 2010 cobalt from chevy.com with it as a dealer installed option, they changed their mind and are now contacting the regional rep to confirm this. I emailed the service manager the GO! blog from gmtunersource.com to give them information on installing the kit and what it is about. You might have to do the same thing. Tomorrow will be d-day as the regional GM rep will give his opinion on my findings. Hopefully i get the green light since gmpartsdirect.com has their kit for $494.98 shipped.

Yah I got the "voided" warranty at first too. But the I had a suprisingly nice chat on the phone with the service manager and we figured it all out

Alright, so i got the call this afternoon saying my car is all set, and supposedly everything went smooth. However, because Im working until midnight, Ill be picking it up first thing tomorrow.

Heres where the problems started. I was initially quoted $500.50 for the kit by the Parts Manager, to match gmpp.com lowest price. Then the service manager quoted me $125 for labor, install/flash. So, $625 total right? Wrong.

When the service writer calls he says "the total is $725". I said...uhh no it isnt. I explained to him what I was quoted and he said he'd check and call me back. So 10mins later he calls and says its all set, the price was changed, but they added $20 for a "special adhesive" they had to use during installation. Now, I used to work as a mechanic, and still do part time, and I know what was involved with this install....and no where was a special "adhesive" needed. So I asked him for specifics, and again, Ill have to call you back.... I get a call back, and he said the instructions that came with the kit "strongly recommended" red loc tite on the sensor bolts, so thats what the extra charge was for. $20 for loc-tite??? Is it just me or is that a little crazy?

Anyways....now after the loc-tite and taxes Ive got a total of $675. Still not bad, but not what I had been expecting...I dont like suprises and money getting piled on for no reason.

I stayed polite the whole time, but he seemed bothered that I asked what the extra $20 was for. I told him, "I'm sorry, but I want to know what Im getting charged for, Im not just going to dole out my money without any idea of what its for"

All in all so-so experience, I just hope the tune is worth it, and nothing breaks lol.
