Cobalt SS/SC v.s Cobalt SS/TC

I am planning on buying a Cobalt SS this spring. I wanted to know if i should get a Supercharged or Turbocharged SS. I've heard positive and negative things about both so i just want to know which will be the better buy.

Thanks.

Compared stock to stock the SS/TC is a faster, better handling and better braking car but it is more expensive. Once the SS/SC is modified the gap between the two cars is smaller.

Everyone here is going to have their own opinion the only way you will know is to drive both and look at your budget.

Unless price is an issue, TC hands down.

Theyre pretty close, so it can really come down to the driver.

buddy i own both the s/c and the t/c. my s/c has an intake, exhaust, and torque dampener while my tc is stock and the tc is definitely faster.

Thanks for all the comments so far. It seems like the Turbo would be picked over the Supercharger so far.

The TC is a better car as far as factory FI. They are alot closer with aftermarket FI though the TC still has the nicer brakes/interior/etc.

I would just get an 05 SC and turbo swap it. You could have a 375-400whp SS/"SC" for the price of a stock TC.

Don't know about Nova Scotia but B.C. bud is the best. but on a serious note, the Cobalt SS/TC is the better choice. Also they do not make a SS/SC any more, and to get one you would have to buy one used and if one is for sale there's a good chance it's been **** kicked

I had a SS S/C for a year. The drivetrain is by far way weaker hinting three axles and a transmission blown in the years time. I bought a wrecked TC and converted it and love it more than any car i have driven. The power will suprise everyone and leave people scraching thier heads. Not to mention i have close to double the tourque and about 100 more hp than my S/C had and still have had no problems. The exhaust note has a much better sound as well. TC ALL THE WAY NO DOUBT

I like the sc, I think it depends what you're looking for. I think the supercharger is cool, love the sound. If you're looking for ***** out performance, the tc is probably the better choice unless you really want to put some work and wrench time into it.

That being said, the sc can still be made "quick" for not too much money, and will most likely be significantly cheaper. If you have the budget for the tc, by all means get it.

TC.... if you want to do some wrench time..... do it to the T/C and get yourself a true monster to the limits of smart with FWD..

its a tough call all i had was an intake and a tune on my SC and i was more then a match for a few stock TCs in my area. i test drove a used TC w/ like 2k miles on it not to long ago and it just didnt feel as fast as my SC and the handling and brakeing while it was very good, it wasnt/didnt feel better then my SC w/ slotted rotors and hawk pads and front and rear sway bars.
500-F/R swaybars
400-breaks
400-intake/tune
so it takes 1300 to make the ss/sc a small step above a stock TC

ok sorry for rambling lol
all in all if you have a chance to get the TC for a good price get it
but the SS/SC is still a great car and can run right with a stock TC with just a few upgrades

i had an 05 S/c and went to the 08 T/c. if price is a factor, the s/c is a great car. feels a bit snappier for around town, normal driving and still delivers solid performance and fun to drive. the T/c def performs better overall though and is built sturdier IMO. i went thru half shafts in the S/c and also the steering knuckle etc (which are all known problems) all that is either beefed-up or re-engineered on the T/c.

only bad point about my T/c i can say is the rear brakes and i throw codes due to misfires quite a bit. its annoying but if i had to do it all over again, id still get the T/c over just about any car (considering the price) the only other choice would be an Evo X and its not worht it to me for almost 10g's more. im very happy with my SS
