tire spin??

hey, i was at the chevy dealership the other day to test drive the cobalt ss/sc. It seems pretty good, but when i tried to kinda launch it from a stop, it seemed as though it took awhile to gain traction, then it went. this one didnt have the lsd. Is this normal? or could it be cause i wasnt used to the clutch and all, so i was a bit heavy. and would the lsd change that tirespin and make it take off faster/better?
thanks.

welcome to the site... very normal... use the search button, this is one of the biggest problems with the cobalt... there are ways to fix it though, so don't worry too much about it...

The LSD won't really help off the line, nut accelerating out of the turns. It's not a 50/50 LSD, it's 20/80 I think. Great for autocross and track, not really useful for 1/4 mile.

obviously im not gonna get the hang of the clutch the FIRST time i launch it. I was just wondering if others have noticed this quite a bit while launching? Or if its hardly noticeable unless you just suck at shifting.

After you get used to the car and learn how to launch a high tourqe front drove car its not so bad.
Mostly you need to launch it below 1500 RPM.
I launch at idle and have run a 13.9 so far. Others have pulled a 12.9 and beter with theres.
The car is faster after brake in and you learning how to drive it. It takes time.

Get the G85 option. Youll love it. Wish I had it.

cool, thanks. yea, im really liking the g85 option. the dealer i went to had another cobalt with it. i sat in it and fell in love with the seats. the only problem is, with that option, its basically taking a 26000$ car and bringing it closer to the 30000$ price range.
