I am against this idea. No other small car has a 4 door, coupe and convertible.

GM has the Solstice--which is cheaper then the Cobalt SS--and the upcoming G6 convertible.

I remember seeing a Sunfire convertible a few years ago--it cost as much as Firebird Formula!

I'm not sure if i agree with u entirely, GM has been missing an affordable convertible in its line up since the cavalier/sunfire convertible was scrapped in 2000 and another mark when the camaro/firebird was scrapped. I can see the solstice is a choice but its a 2 seater. If GM was to release a cobalt convertible it should have 2 models SS and LS that way it could fit the needs of 2 target markets: high performance convertible buyer and a person that wants a cheap convertible. The Cavalier Z24 and RS is a great example. If GM doesn't release a Cobalt Convertible i'm gonna pick up a 2000 Cavalier Convertible thats it.

I'm against convertible on SS too. It will take away from the stiffness of the car and frame and actually slow down performance. My opinion.

Thats okay---I expect people to disagree with me!

Seriously--you just said affordable convertible. Thats what I eluded to when I said that Sunfire convertible cost as much as a Firebird Formula.

A Cobalt convertbile would be exspensive...I don't know how it could be done cheaply. I would think it would cost more then an SS coupe. They would have to design it on a car that wasn't originally designed as a convertible and build all those developemetn costs into the price.

I dunno---with out that roofline I am not sure it would look good at all.

I think it would only look nice if you had the top always down unless they had some hard top fold into the truck thingy going on.
