Personal Call from Chevy/GM - ON ITS WAY FOR SURE!

Well, while my rep continuously received a status of "In Transit" from Chevy, I received a peronsal call this a.m. from Chevy/GM themselves at my home. It was one of the "higher-ups" in Customer Service. My Arrival Blue SS/SC was just released today for transit. It was still under its final checks during the past two weeks. It has officially been "Released for Delivery". They actually apologized for the inconvenience due to these past few weeks being the initial release of this vehicle. Wow! Can you believe that they apologized? I say "apology accepted". So, I can now officially relax. It will arrive via train and then off-loaded to the dealer. AND I was at NHRA over the weekend and saw Erica's Cobalt SS/SC that she does 4.60 @ 120 mph in the 1/8 mile! Once I get my firewire cable I can download the pics and video from my camcorder. She didn't race it this weekend, it was just there on display! And was it HOT!

Thats awesome. At least he led on the impression that they are producing a lot more SS S/C'd now, so they should be easier to get. Sweet.

Thank you! Hopefully it will get here soon! At least they are on it and getting them out! It should help explain to others their status, since I ordered mine Feb 20th, therefore its only been 2 months.

Don't get too excited. I did cause my dealer said my car would be here in a few days and now i am quite disappointed. I ordered mine in October...dealer got the invoice on the 6th...and my car still hasn't arrived yet...and i live in Ohio. Hope this doesn't happen to you.

Can't help but get excited. Its because I spoke with someone high up in Customer Service from Chevrolet themselves. Not at my dealer. They told me more than my dealer knows. Which is rare. Anywho, just some anticipation really bad. We'll all see what happens. You'll see my photos when she gets here!

Sunroof Issues

Hey everyone, just got the scoop on the delays for the Cobalt SS/SC for some of us, including me. My dealership just got off the phone today with their GM Rep, apparently, there is some sort of a sunroof issue going on right now. He didn't go into specifices whether its electrical or if it's a structural issue with the sunroof or anything, but he's gonna keep me posted when he finds out more. And no ETA of when it will be fixed or anything. If anyone else out there knows more about this issue post it. Just got off the phone with my rep about 30 mins ago and he said mine would be close to building if it weren't for this sunroof issue. So anybody with a sunroof will havta wait, or possibly go without the sunroof.

I have the sunroof order. Mine (SS/SC) is completed. All checks in order and done! Waiting to be loaded on the train. Spoke w/GM this a.m. I will be speaking with my rep tomorrow. There is no sunroof issue I am aware of. Maybe your dealer screwed up your order and is trying to cover their butt!

Let the SS owners know if it is something that we should be worried about, if u hear anything.

I think what he is talking about is a constraint on the number of sunroofs that Chevy is allowing to be made right now. That means your dealer may be able to put in the order for an SS but they might not let him have a sunroof on the car. It happens as a result of suppliers not being able to keep up with demand for the sunroof. It does not mean that there is a problem with the sunroof itself and it does not affect those that already have theirs or have theirs in production already.

Doesn't make any sense. Here's a guy that ordered back in October (like I did) and he's still waiting. Yellowjersey orders 2 months ago, and almost has their car, and is getting apologetic calls from GM and all that stuff. wtf. No offense to anyone, but something isn't right with that.

Unfortunately it all depends on your dealer and if he can get an allocation for the SS. It is a constrained item from Chevrolet right now (only 5% of production) so not every dealer can just place an order and get them built.

2 things

1. can i have the good phone number for chevy customer service? the number i have is crappy, they tell me they are going to call my dealer to find out what is going on, and guess what? I work for the dealer so that number is useless.

2. The guy who drops off the cobalts who comes directly from lordstown to NJ says the problem with the sunroofs is that they built some of them without a certain part and they might rattle. Take it for what its worth but seems like the sunroof issue might be true!

I have a completely different phone # and contact than what you were given. That's their General Customer Service #. Maybe later today I will call my GM contact and ask if its okay to give the name and #. I don't want to cause waves w/GM when I don't have my car yet. Do you blame me?

I work for CSX, a railroad that transports new vehicles among many other things. Right in Selkirk New York there is a big railyard that has an auto unloading facility. I used to watch the Stevedores unload the trains. You dont even want to know how some of those bastards drive those brand new cars. All I can say is that you may as well throw the "break in period" out the window. I've seen about 3 totally wrecked cars with probably about 1300 feet on the odometer. Nice huh?

Just messin with you. lol. They usually take it pretty easy but accidents happen. Just check your car for ANY damage before you take it. Mine came with a nice ding in the passenger side door. Dealer said he'd fix it but I just havent gotten the chance to take it back over. Congrats on the new cobalt!
