New passenger door cup?

I am having the same problem a lot of others have with the "material pulling away from the door cup" on the passenger side. The rim on the cup is actually too thin at the back. Does anyone know if GM has put out a new door cup to fix this problem? If so do you have the part number?

Yes. even though I heard it was only the guys with leather that were having the problem, I noticed a few days ago that it was happening on our LS too. I was going to have them fix it when I brought it in for our next oil change in august. I've also got a little area above the A/C fan speed knob where the black has worn off on the edge and is revealing the grey coloring of the plastic beneath that I'm going to make them fix. I wanted to give it another couple of months though to see if there was anything else that needed fixing so I can get it all out of the way at the same time.

The door cups are fixed under a TSB (technical service bulletin). They made a ring kit that fits under your door cups that makes the lip larger so the upholstry is held down correctly. It is a warrenty repair. Bring it in, mention you know about a TSB for the problem, and they will look it up for you. They will have to order the trim rings, and you will have to come back again later once they have them. Super fast install, it won't take long at all.

Halfcent, do you have any info like tsb# or other? I'm posting after being to my dealer several times for this and him requesting that I find out more info if I can. Thanks for the info so far I'll see if it helps.

From what I can tell this is a problem on all trim levels of cobalt 2& 4 door(2005 & 2006). I do work for a rental company that has a bunch of ls and lt coupes and 4 door cobalts. Have seen this on every one of their cars I've checked. At the dealer today I looked at a new SS/SC, a new ls coupe, and a new lt sedan that all had this issue.

Document ID # 1792812 Be sure they order the correct rings for your application, there are many choices.

Take a peek in my gallery, The leather on my doors just started to come out last week.

Since the paint on the cups is fragile to start with I didn't want the dealership messing with it so I ordered the rings myself.

$5.85 later I knew my paint was ok and I didn't have to part with my car again.
