Better info than the dealership?

Does anyone know how to get better info on the progress of their car than asking the salesman at the dealership? Granted he IS your connection between the factory and the salesroom floor. But if I am not happy or satisified with the answer he/she gives can I go somewhere else to find out?

If you have a order number you can call GM customer service I think. Also some Chevy employees on the board can look it up for you if you ask nicely. But you need that order number.

Call up the Dealer and Speak to the General Sales Manager himself - you should be contacted atleast once week by the salesperson. I'll check that order for you here in a minute. You will not need to call the Dealership everyday, that's just not neccessary.

Order status is 3000 (Accepted By Production Control) with a TPW (Target Porduction Week) of 5/16

Hey superchev... quick question if you have a chance... I ordered my SS and my salesman said the order went through and everything is fine the car will be made and delivered...

If the order went through does that mean I will definately get this car or can chevy not build it if they run out of time?

The key to knowing if your order is going to get built or not is to see if you are past 1100 status. When the order is at 1100 then it is still a preliminary order and not placed to production control through dealer allocation. Once it gets placed into production then the chances are very slim that they will not build it. I know of some customers who ordered Corvettes from Delaers who did not have very much alloction and they waited for close to a year for there corvette only to run out of the model year and have to start all over again with a new order for the new model year. Dealers are awarded allocation based on their past sales history. The only time this is not true is when they are first rolling out a new product. This was the case with the SS when it first started coming out, at first they were shipping to specific areas to target certain parts of the country (This is why PA had so many to start out) Now they have gone to normal allocation process based on sales history.

Hey, Thanks for the info. What different levels does your order get I see that you listed 3000. Where does it go from there?

It was about a week. I was calling my salesman about every week to get an update. Then when he started to come out with the build date I would call a couple days before the date only to find that it was bumped up. This happened 3 times. Hopefully I get it before the Woodward Dream Cruise!
