Im surprised they did all this without lowering the compression

But why?? Higher compression is not that bad of a thing. You just have to have it tuned correctly. Lower compression is more forgiving on bad tunes. YOu can make more power with higher compression on the same boost level if tuned correctly. This is how most of the race teams in FWD racing do. With HPTuners out you have better tuning. I think more boost will be possible than where they are currently.

Wait until you get addicted to the power!!!

Thats a couple of different threads I read now where peaple say if tuned right the higher compression is a good thing, and yeah I might get addicted to the stage 3 power

They did use a higher octane so that helps on not lowering the compression.

this sounds awesome well since I'm staying with the 2.4 I'll be happy with around 250whp. I wonder how much longer will it take to come out with a kit for the 2.4?

I dont know... what really impressed me about that thread is that they are running a stage 3 kit on stock internals. That's pretty amazing.... especially considering the amount of boost they were running. So much for the theory that our engines can't handle boost.

I have ben saying (before I ever joined this site, and before the 2.4 Ecotec was out to buy) that this would be the surprise motor. People expect the 2.0 supercharged to be good and it is. I think the 2.4 has a lot of to give.

who is making those stage kits for them?...hahn?....and also that just goes to show you that our cars are gonna be badass once we get a urbo an some stage ks...i think the ss/sc is good...but it is limited on how much powr it can make...where as a tubo for our car is pretty much lmitless for the tie being...thats just what i think though

i don't understand this concept of lower compression = more boost. it's not that simple. a supercharger does not "ram" more air and fuel in, it raises the air pressure on the inlet side of the motor. the intake stroke still is what fills the engine with air/fuel. the same volume of air with the same amout of fuel will produce ROUGHLY the same power regardless of where that air comes from.

high compression engines actually do better under low boost situations because there is less possibility of surge at low boost. if you think a knock is bad, try a boost surge. that'll ruin your night.

That is not all completely so. You can upgrade superchargers as well. Plus find ways to cool intake temps (alky injection, nitrous). Of course those things can be done on a turbo car as well. Supercharged cars usually have better torque and some wnat that more than HP. Torque is what moves you.

whoever proposed that theory was ignorant at best, and a total moron at worst. if you've looked at the specs of the 2.4, its got the same head (though i believe sans the sodium filled exhaust valves) of the LSJ and the rods are forged i-beam just like the LSJ as well. The only thing working against it so far as boost is high compression but if you have a tuner who knows his stuff thats not a problem at all.
