what size pipe?

new to the cobalt world... just bought a 2006 yellow ss supercharged and was wondering how the factory exhaust was. i was think about replacing the down pipe and getting a exhaust put on but didnt know what the avg, size piping was. i was thinking of going with 3 inch. please help me out thanks.

You don't need anything bigger than 2.5" exhaust. The stock exhaust is 2.5" mandrel bent, until about 1 or 2 feet before the muffler then it goes down to 2.25".

thanks. im going to a local muffler shop a budy of mine owns and getting it done there free. i just wanted to know what size pipe. also one more thing. should i leave one res. and then muffler or take all the res. out. thanks

well i wouldnt go 2.5 but 3 inch im afraid will be to loud. so i think 2.75 may be what im going to get

noise depends on the muffler type and resonator.

2.5" is perfect and unless you get a full cat-back plus downpipe its pretty useless being the diameter goes small at the flanges... why change the piping at the rear when u aren't changing the rest of the biggest bottlenecks?

yeah i was looking at them... they dont look like they flow any better then the stock ones. they looked like the same size. except the weaponsR long tube header. but i couldnt find it anywhere for the 2.0s\c so i dont know about the header yet.

Right now I have the factory manifold and b pipe. I am waiting for vibrant to release there header which chould be coming real soon.
