My new Cobalt SS/SC!
My new Cobalt SS/SC!
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Brian and I just traded my '04 Ion Redline in for a brand new 2006 laser blue cobalt ss/sc. I usually spend a lot of time over on redlineforums but figured I would register here since I got the cobalt now. Here are some pics.

I don't have any plans to mod anything anytime soon. I got the extended warranty so I don't want to waste that. I had too many little warranty problems with the Redline, so I wanted to make sure I was covered for a while.
The reason I traded the for the Cobalt was because that is what I wanted from the time I first started shopping. At the time last march, I couldnt afford the Cobalt payments but found the RL used with only 2k miles on it for $14.5. With the 0% financing and my GM discount, I could afford it. It was definitely an impulse buy. Decided to go shopping at 3:30 after work friday, came home with a new car at 11 pm.

As of right now, I'd have to say the RL felt like it had a little more power. I think the SS just needs to be broken in a bit. I am not taking it over 5k rpms so it really seems to lag on the 1-2 shift right now. The SS is much easier to drive. I think its the difference in the tune from '04 to '06. must be a little more refined. Handling is the same. I do miss my Recaro seats from my redline though. The SS seats are nice but definitely don't hold you in the twisties as well.
