2.0 Supercharger swap to 2.4
OK..so I have been doing a lot of reading and researching of this topic lately and my last thread didnt help much...and im sure a lot of people are interested in this idea so lets get it all out in this one thread.
The BIG question: With the recent release of full 2.4L HPtuners tuning support and the kind of boost and numbers Hahn has been pumping into the 2.4L. WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE to swap a COMPLETE 2.0 SS Supercharger set-up minus the PCM into the 2.4L VVT WITHOUT touching the internals but at the same time being reliable.
Lets get this straight as well. To accomplish this task i am not talking about just bolting it all on and goin. I am talking about setting it all up and doing a complete dyno tune of the PCM.
and please stay on topic...i dont want to see every post talking about the high compression ratio...we all know the 2.4 has a high compression ratio. With forced induction and a good tune you can still make boost and have a good compression ratio.
lets hear it

all I know is that the 2,2L ecotec can withstand 285 hp without having to touch the internals, I'm guessing it's the same with the 2,4L so I would say Yes, with a good tune, you wouldn't have to change anything unless you plan on boosting it like crazy.
no matter what s 2.4 er's do,everyone is gonna say oh your engine cant handle boost(high compression, weak internals, blah blah blah)...90% of viewers say it cant be done...if you want proof that our engines can hndle boost...and high levels of hp/tq...thn head over to the solsice forums where they are curently testing a stage 3 turbo on stock internals with no relibility isues YET...in fact high comp. levels dont hurt a cars boost perf. so i believe tht it can be donewithout any major issues...other than ec tuning
high compression doesn't mean it can't be boosted, it just means that its less forgiving of poor tuning. If you have it tuned (and let me note that tuning means remapping fuel AND timing, not just fuel) by someone with dyno access who knows what they're doing, you should have no problems all the way into the 300 hp region. After that you're in unknown territory but I wouldn't be surprised to see the 2.4 making 350+ before having major failures.
I've seen a 2.2 eco with an M62 that one of the rods let go shortly after he installed the 2.8" pulley. You guys are lucky and have forged rods where the 2.2 has powder metal rods. So you should be able to pretty much max the M62 with no reliability issues PROVIDED you have the tuning done by someone who knows what they're doing.

what supercharger and from where?
HP/TQ numbers??
reliability???
etc..
Thats a j-body with a 2.4 quad motor not our 2.4 eco. And i too am starting to look into this swap. All though the 12 psi worries me as far as longterm but i'm sure a blower with stock pully and a conservative tune would be able to hold up. I'm gonna hold off a bit and what kind of results Hahn gets with high boost and the stock motor.

Trying to get a list of parts that will be needed this swap. I've found a cobalt in a junk yard in tennessee that might have most if not all of what will be needed. As far as major parts, Supercharger, aftercooler, intake manifold, stock pulley, injectors, throttle body, belt. I know a guy with a j-body 2.2 eco that did the swap so i'm gonna see all what he swapped over, maybe that will help on the things we will need.
