na/ss vs ion supercharged

i was at the race track last night and got approached by a 05 or 06 ion supercharded 5 speed he asked to race cause he taught i was supercharged. i laughed and said no i just have the 2.4 cobalt he kinda laughed and i said we can still race its pretty quick. he said ok the first race was kinda a funny cause my take off was perfect and he took off peeling out to much but i figured he would catch up to me but no i kept pulling away and beat him by three cars when we came back he was pissed he was checking all his stuff making excuses so i said we can race again. the next race he hooked up way better than me i kinda got excited and gave it to much gas regardless by the end of my first gear i passed him and kept pulling and pulling i only beat him by a car and a half. i had alot of fun

From what I've heard... if he was stock and with your mods... it should be a decent matchup.

The cheapest speed mod you can do to your car is in the driver's seat, good driving on your part ! What were your times ?

I honestly would have figured the Ion guy would have won. Maybe this is just proof you just have to be a good driver in order to win?

I'm not calling BS one bit, because that IRL drivver must absolutly suck. I really like the 2.4, so this is in no way a bash, but I can eat them in my IRL. They're a good run, but still it should at LEAST be close, not you blowing him away.

PS) You must also be one hell of a driver!

He said the IRL (IF it was indeed a Redline) driver got a 15.9. MAJOR suckage on the part of the Redline owner if that's the case. I don't know if you could even force yourself to do that badly....

Agreed. I've never driven a 2.4 but there's no way it should be able to hang with a redline if the drivers are equal. obviously they weren't

exactly, 205hp stock (at the wheels as shown by dynos at least) with a REALLY flat TQ curve and tranny geared for racing, vs 180 hp (at the crank im pretty sure, but i havn't seen the dynos) with an NA TQ curve with a standard getrag tranny.. should NOT have happened that way, just shouldn't have!!

that guy could not drive stick!!! He is a disgrace to us IRL owners!

Does not mean the guy in the ION is that bad of a driver. i have a 2.4 and I beat good drivers in better cars, but I have been driving a 16 speed split shift truck for 16 years just means im a better driver than your everday sports car driver

the 2.4 was nicely modded too, keep that in mind. Its possible. if it was the dudes first time to at the track. Now if he launched better then you and got the jump off then he should have won regardless. Only way I see him losing is if he missed a gear/shift, or was shifting at like 5700 RPMs or something.

Even with the worst launches and bad conditions the LSJ car should be in high 14s
You were gettin "sharked" IMO
Didnt he come by and ask you to go again for $cash$ ??

i used to have an SS 2.4, and while they are quick cars, it would take more than bolt-ons and tune to beat or hang with an IRL or ss/sc
