Another clutch broken

the pictures are in my gallery just click on the camera under my name. the bottom row is the old pictures and the top row is the new ones. Hole in the trans, finished off my starter, pressure plate broken, flywheel not that bad still usuable, i will be giving lonnie a call in a second. i can't get a refund on it because i didn't directly buy it from them.

I changed my pilot bearing because it was leaking, and that was why it wouldn't go into gear. put everything back together, and heard a knocking noise, i let the car run for a little, when you press the clutch in it kinda went away but you could still hear it. and when i revved it thats when it made a loud scraping noise and i turned it off took it back apart and found this mess.

the things that hold the pressure plate to the cover are called straps and are riveted normally. What did he mean by the pressure plate isnt shimmed any more...u said the one that blew up didnt have the welded on washers. Im confused lol

i call the straps shimmes i don't know what he means about them not being shimmied anymore, i will give him a call later today, he said he sent the pics to the main office. i would rather just get a new pressure plate now and figure out all this other **** later i can't take not haveing my car anymore, and paying 400 bucks for insurence when its just sitting there.

So do you have to order a whole new transmission and everything? OR what are you doing for now. I talked to Dan and he said you found a g85. Is that correct? Good luck with it man. If I lived closer I would give you a hand putting **** back in. MY FX400 6puck is still sitting in its box and it may go back just because of this situation.

man my clutch is working fine, seems like the CM problems have surfaced again, it seems like just luck of the draw, i have 2000 miles and 15+ trips down the track with no problem.

Thus the reason you NEVER buy Clutch Masters. Once again people never listen, they just want the cheapest ****. Can't skimp on parts like that.

Here is a picture of a REAL clutch/flywheel assembly:

I put a crack in my transmission too. Don't feel bad. Lol.

Follow this link for pictures of the stock clutch in PIECES.

Spec isn't the best clutch out. People need to realize this. Clutch Masters has a good history of good clutch setups. Just because of a few bad apples doesn't mean it's not a bad setup. The SPEC clutches are giving people issues just not on a level as this.

I agree Sneaky. I've heard MANY happy customers that use CM. I've never had any personal experiance w/ Spec, but their clutch does look good.

Is just the FX400 that everyone is having problems with or is it all CM clutches?

i think its all of them because they use the same pressure plate for all the clutches and the pressure plate seems to be the most of the problem, but they seemed to be fixed now.

the alternator is still not charging, when it was running i checked the belt and it wasn't spinning, turned it off and i could move the belt with my hand. i checked the crank pulley and the bolt on it was loose. i took it out with my hand. either god hates me or someone is out to get me, i took it out and i didn't see a key in it, but no groove on crank for the pulley key i tightenit back down and it spins fine now but i don't know how it happen. but the alternator isn't charging still.

So what clutch do you guys reccommend? Mine just left me tonight, and I need to buy a new one ASAP.

I was planning on the FX300.

SS4Life, Thatt really sucks bro. I hope everything turns out alright for you. You win on the worst clutch deal though! I would definately peg Lonnie for some reimbursement for that man. Good Luck.

Go with SPEC. I haven't seen ANYONE have a problem with them yet in ANY car EVER. How many issues have there been with the Clutch Masters units...? End of story.
