I dont want to sound like a newbie, but I was wondering if anyone would like to take the time to list every possible scheduled maintenance for the cobalt.
I think this list could benefit every owner. I thought of this after reading another thread about changing the oil at 500 miles. I always thought the first was due on the 3,000th. Well, Ill wait for what you post. ;)

im taking mine in for the first oil change tomorrow and im at 1300mi, i meant to take it in earlier but kept forgetting and what-not so oh well its still running fine so im not worried about it, ill probably change it again at around 3 or 4K miles then normal changes from then on with synthetic

Scheduled Maintenance
When the CHANGE OIL SOON message in the Driver Information Center (DIC) comes on, it means that service is required for your vehicle. See DIC Warnings and Messages . Have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible within the next 600 miles (1 000 km). It is possible that, if you are driving under the best conditions, the engine oil life system may not indicate that vehicle service is necessary for over a year. However, your engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and at this time the system must be reset. Your GM Goodwrench® dealer has GM-trained service technicians who will perform this work using genuine GM parts and reset the system.

If the engine oil life system is ever reset accidentally, you must service your vehicle within 3,000 miles (5 000 km) since your last service. Remember to reset the oil life system whenever the oil is changed. See Engine Oil Life System for information on the Engine Oil Life System and resetting the system.

When the CHANGE OIL SOON message appears, certain services, checks, and inspections are required. Required services are described in the following for "Maintenance I" and "Maintenance II." Generally, it is recommended that your first service be Maintenance I, your second service be Maintenance II, and that you alternate Maintenance I and Maintenance II thereafter. However, in some cases, Maintenance II may be required more often.

Maintenance I -- Use Maintenance I if the CHANGE OIL SOON message comes on within 10 months since the vehicle was purchased or Maintenance II was performed.

Maintenance II -- Use Maintenance II if the previous service performed was Maintenance I. Always use Maintenance II whenever the CHANGE OIL SOON message comes on 10 months or more since the last service or if the message has not come on at all for one year.

Visually check for any leaks or damage. I&II


Inspect engine air cleaner filter. If necessary, replace filter. See Engine Air Cleaner/Filter . II


Rotate tires and check inflation pressures and wear. See Tire Inspection and Rotation and "Tire Wear Inspection" in At Least Once a Month . I&II


Inspect brake system. I&II


Check engine coolant and windshield washer fluid levels. If you have the 2.0L L4 supercharged engine, check intercooler fluid level. Add fluid as needed. I&II


Perform any needed additional services. See "Additional Required Services" in this section. I&II


Inspect suspension and steering components. II



Inspect engine cooling system. II


Inspect wiper blades. II



Inspect restraint system components. II



Lubricate body components. II



Replace passenger compartment air filter. II



Inspect throttle system. II


Inspect fuel system for damage or leaks. Every 25kmiles


Inspect exhaust system for loose or damaged components.Every 25k


Replace engine air cleaner filter. See Engine Air Cleaner/Filter . Every 25k


Change automatic transaxle fluid and filter Every 50k


Replace spark plugs. Every 100k


Engine cooling system service. Every 5yrs or 150k

Inspect engine accessory drive belt. Every 150k

how do you reset oil life because i couldnt get it to, maybe i have to hold the button longer

Turn the ignition to RUN, with the engine off.
Press the information and reset buttons on the DIC at the same time to enter the personalization menu. .
Press the information button to scroll through the available personalization menu modes until the DIC display shows OIL-LIFE RESET.
Press and hold the reset button until the DIC display shows ACKNOWLEDGED. This will tell you the system has been reset.
Turn the key to LOCK.

I just got my oil changed today at 2,999 miles. I was just about to ask about resetting the oil life, so thanks for the answer, Im gonna go try it.
