How are you holding up
How are you holding up
I've had my cobaltss 2.4L for about a month and love the car. I've got 2,000 miles and it still feels pretty solid but I can tell that its defintely broken in now. When it was brand new it was like an isolation chamber with how quiet and solid it felt and it still is pretty tight but Im wondering how it will hold up when it gets higher mileage. I had a new grand am GT in 99 and it was solid for about 30,000 miles and then it started to feel a little rougher with squeeks and rattles and felt much looser. How are everybodys cobalts holding up after 10-20-30,000 miles with the squeeks and rattles?
2.2 here, around 14,000 miles...no rattles or squeeks that are noticeable... havent had one mechanical problem to date, only a few minor interior problems (sunroof button and passenger fabric)...the engine may have gotten a bit louder, albeit only a little--but thats just my personal opinion.
i have about 16000 miles on my ss/sc and I had an ass full of problems......i.e clutch, temp problems, int. sunroof switch plate falls off, shift knob flew off, when it rains i get a leak from under the driver dash which i think travels from the door but all in all i love the car.
40,000 miles on my 05 Cobalt coupe... no real issues other than the paint (which I took care of)... I had to replace the headlight switch, the radio and found I have a bent wheel... not sure how that happened.
But, I continue to get mid30's for mileage, no oil consumption, interior is holding up well, although the drivers seat is showing some wear and tear (but I am a 290-300lb guy), but other than that, the car is still very solid.

Had mine since June 2005 , have 36,000 miles . Ive had a few warranty problems , but nothing really worth mentioning . Overal My SS has been perfection . Its not vault like tight like when it was new , but what do u expect from a $22K economy car ....it still feels about 90% as good as it did new .
Nothin but smiles for me still

For such a cheap car its seems like its pretty high quality compared
to other cars I've had. I couldn't believe how solid and quiet it felt when I first got it, now I'm used to it, but compared to what I was driving before it was a big difference.
I only drive GM cars and one thing I noticed is they all get warped rotors.
My cavalier had warped rotors with onlyh a fwe thousand miles. They must use the cheapest chinese rotors they can find. Im waiting for the cobalts rotors to warp.
As for the car overall if it feels 90% as good as when it was new I would be happy with that.

13000KMs warped rotars..odd noise coming from the back end...louder then it was when i first got it...not engine noise(well it is louder a bit but not bad sounding) just like general noise wind noises and stuff..needs an oil change for sure..something else i forget at this moment...
2.0 3500 kms on it and feels tight still
my buddy has a 2.4L with 3600 kms on it and he drives the **** outta it (his first standard car so he wasnt too good to start, now he revs WAY to high, probably 5500-6000 EVERY gear EVERY time and i tell him to lay off) and it squeeks when he shifts.

I am getting that need for speed again though and am pretty sure that i'll be trading for an SS/SC in the spring.
