Top Ten Models for 18-25 year-olds
Top Ten Models for 18-25 year-olds
I found this ranking of the top ten models based on percentage of customers between the ages of 18-25. I just thought it was sort of shocking that the Cobalt was the only domestic car on the list. For those who are wondering, I saw it in a magazine called "Young Money" that is passed out on campus (University of Texas). I don't know how much I believe these numbers anyway because it doesn't say what the percentages are based on (number sold, favorite car, etc.) and if it is based on sales, how can the Yaris be ahead of the Cobalt considering it just came out this year? I'm also not so sure that it is necessarily a good thing for a car to be mostly purchased by buyers in this age range.
1. Scion tC 37.5%
2. Mazda 3 24.2%
3. Acura RSX 24.1%

6. Volkswagen GTI 22.4%
7. Mitsubishi Lancer 22.1%
8. Mazda 6 20.9%
9. Toyota Yaris 20.8%
10. Chevrolet Cobalt 20.2%

I'm surprised the Cobalt is on there at all really. If 20% of that age range are buyers, that translates into over 40k Balts sold to them. The Mazda 3 sells at about 2/3 the pace of the Cobalt which means that there are more people in that age group buying a Cobalt than 3.
Either way, the list doesn't give you the true story. Take the percentages and total vehicles sold then give us a number to get a true idea.

As for the percentages totaling over 100, as 06G5GT pointed out, the number represents the percentage of buyers for each car between the ages of 18-25.
uhh why is toyota yaris on there???
as for everything else i think it looks about right, im suprised nissan didn't get one on there though
i think the cobalt is at a good place, i am kinda suprised mazda has the 3 & 6 on there

i don't buy that at ALL. because if it was parents buying the cars, there would have to be focus and civic on that list and most people 18-24 can't afford a new car, let alone a 20k + one.

Mazda and Mitsubishi are still separate companies. A partnership or stock investment doesn't consitiute ownership.
BTW, if Mazda isnt just a Ford company...and its not domestic, what country did they start in?

i thought Mazda was completely owned by Ford, not partnered. Mitsubishi i suppose i never really new..

hey hunter killer what do you consider a sabb? domestic or import?
lol dont mean to start arguments but if you use the companys origan as domestic or import then somethign like sabb(gm owned) would be an import. Or if you consider it the cars build location then something like a camaro (canada assembled) would be an import.
just a little gas on the flame
