From what I have heard, BMW parts are very expensive. BMW's are also not very receptive to mods, and computers are just about impossible to flash tune. I'd only consider it if you plan to leave it completely stock.

bmws are wonderful cars. they all just feel like a sportscar.

they maybe the only maker that makes pure drivers cars across the board. the parts have not proven to be more than for any other car, unless you want to mod. then it is money.

also TCO isn't bad because of the included service.

The guys on the e46 forums would disagree. I'd speak more of BMW tuning I just don't know much about it other than it exists.

eh, 3 sereis. Really? Why?

I don't like BMWs in general, but I did test drive a 328i when I was looking at the Cobalt because my friends were all about it. I wasn't impressed and would definately go with a C class Benz over the 3 series.

I don't like BMW owners because I am yet to meet one that's not a *****, heck I haven't met a BMW salesman that's not a ***** yet.

If you want to project the image that you have money then go for it, if you want a good driver in that price range there are better out there. If you want something to tune and don't want to spend BIG money on parts then there are much better out there.

Holy shitscaponies. Mr Stereotypes here, you know if you own a BMW then you dont have to make friends with people who already think your a ***** because they are ignorant. If you have the money, a 3 series is a beautiful ride, I too enjoy the C class, but the BMW has a better feel in most performance areas. assuming we are comparing a C230 and a 325. I still can't believe the ignorant comment that came out of dreamers ****** post. "If you want to project the image that you have money then go for it," WOW

Thumbs down

i used to work for a bmw dealership as a lot attendent... the e90 is beautiful. the 330i in perticular. the 325 really lacked tho. it was much slower and didnt handle as well. also i dont think they make the 328 anymore. its just the 330i adn xi and the 325i and xi. why dont you just wait a couple months for the e90 M3 that will be a beast.

but seriously if you were one of the people that hated going to the dealership because of problems . DONT BUY A BMW you will be back to the shop before you hit 1000 miles garenteed

my buddy has an '00 3 series and its def nice. His mom also has a brand new 3 series and it is def a luxury car with some "go". Ive driven them both and they are def good cars. I once owned a VW and the parts for that were expensive cause they ordered everything from germany, etcc. labor, parts, etcc.. it all added up but with a BMW you get what u pay for. id say stick with the chevy.

i say if you want a bmw don't buy a cheap version of it go all out and get the 330i the 325 really lacks the performance simply a luxury car, by the way bmw has one of the top 3 service records fyi. Chevy is not even close to top 3. And Free oil, brakes, alignment and other services for the length of your warranty!

Hey it's my opinion, take it with a grain of salt. I don't like the cars, the guy wanted opinoins and I gave mine.

I agree the BMW is a better performance buy then the C class and the C class lacks the feel of the 3 series but I like the C class better. Maybe it's because I am bias against BMW, maybe it's because I have had one too many bad experiences with BMW owners, and maybe it's because I am a total Benz fanboy (I am), but I don't think what I said is too off base really.

I don't know what this guy wants in a car but if he wants peformance and the ability to do some tuning, there are better cars out there. If he wants luxary, there are better cars out there, and if he wants a little bit of both, I think there are better cars out there. The 3 series would certainly be near the top of that 30k something dollar heap but maybe not the top. If I were dead set on a car in that price range I would go drive the C class, the Acura, and the 3 series. If you can get buy with two doors and two seats then things like the Porche Boxster, and Honda S2000 come into play also.

Maybe I should just throw this question out there for the thread starter. What do you want the car for? It's possible there are better cars out there that will do what you want for that price better. It's foolish to get dead set on one car when there are so many great options.

I agree with just about everything you said, until you made the comment about "projecting the image that you have money," that comment projects the image that you are jealous of people that have money. Just an ignorant comment about people based on a car. Like you said it is your opinion and that is that, but WOW.

Well unfortunately I think that's what the vast majority of BMW (and Mercedes, and others) owners buy the car for. I'm not saying that's the case here. I really doubt it is, well I hope it's not, but let's be honest, when you buy a car like that people are going to say "oh he must have money". The fact is 99% of people on this planet don't know that a 3 series can be had for the low 30s. They see BMW and think money. I'm just saying that if you buy a car like a BMW you are going to project that image. I don't think it's ignorant to say that at all but it's very truthful.

I will admit that people do think that way, i grew up with a lot of car enthusiasts and mechanics and I guess I don't surround myself with people that would think that way, unless you see a brand new M5, I dont think "that guy has money", I think "That car costs a lot of money" To the simple minded people, **** em, A BMW is a nice car no matter the cost. Also an Acura TL which is roughly the same price is nice but does not drive nearly as well, kind of disconnected if you what I mean.

Have you considered a 2001-2004 Corvette coupe? Only two seats, but the prices are good and it is a definate step up.

Forget that, those are for old farts going through a midlife crisis or at least that's what the sterotype is supposed to be.

Have any of you heard of the new 335i??? twin turbo six??? something tells me it will do very well with an ecu flash. 300hp stock, dynos 270s which means more like 320hp. plus a flash for about 30more hp and say 50 tq. should be a nice car.

You should look into a 2004- current Audi S4 if you have that kind of money. They are going for 30k on.

I read about it online somewhere. Should be interesting but pricey. Around 38k I think? Not sure if it's worth it at that price.

When I said they were untunable, these newer ones are what I was referring to. You can flash the computer, but if the computer runs more timing than stock, or more boost, or something isn't right, the computer flashes itself back to the stock tune (or so I've heard). I agree that a tune could be awesome on that car, but from what I've read it may not be possible yet.

Thats what I used to think bout ppl wit beemers then I started to learn more about cars and found out it was only 30k. I was soo surprised. I was recently thinkin bout a 98 M3, but then the parts are more expensive and it will probly have a lot of problems. I just wanted to be able to say that I have an m3
