Yeah I agree he should have taken it like a man lol. However, there is another video of the SRT-10 being raped by a lightning and the L backed off around 100-120mph too. So maybe that was an agreed let off point? Dunno!

Sounds to me like GM needs to add a 5 speed/6 speed auto to their trucks. The tranny is killing the motor!!

It's not surprising though (if they went from a roll), the z06 cam is the mildest cam you can utilize, usually good for around 20hp
with a good tune on a 5.3l...worst part is he makes no mentioned if the thing has even been tuned. If he got whooped from a dig then I dunno what to say lol. Guys have run mid 13's on street tires w/ that combo so it should at least have been close. No excuses though, since he lost. Damn I wanna see the vid!

And yes the 4l60E is a piece of crap, I'm surprised it didn't break w/ a 100 shot...unless he's on his fourth one like
everyone else LOL.

As for the 5.3 versus 6.0 debate. There's a guy here running 13s on his 5.3. Some guys are converting to 6.0s just to run 13s. Seems funny to me. I talk to him (5.3 Silverado guy up here in Pitt) all the time. Hey if you get a chance...PM me I have a bunch of truck questions for you. I want one and I wanted to know some specifics.

Weird, some of the vids work and some don’t. I was able to watch another vid where he got pulled on by a SN95 Cobra on a 100 shot…lol looks like he has more losses than wins! I will have to check out the 350z race at home.

It’s very easy to run 13’s w/ a 5.3 IF you have a regular cab. Typical mods for an RC 5.3l to get into the 13’s are a stall, longtubes, DR’s, but the most important thing is a good tune. One of the guys I go to the track with has a mid 12 second N/A 5.3l RC Silverado has all the bolt-ons, built tranny, stall, a healthy cam and a good tune (you can see his ride here: http://www.nelsonperformance.com/customers.htm under “V8”)

An LQ4 or LQ9 swap is very popular simply because you can get a 6.0l for cheap and it’s a direct bolt-in. There is a guy who swapped out his LR4 (4.8l) out for a Caddy ESV LQ9 and w/ the bone stock LQ9 went from a 16.0 to a 14.1 on street tires, stock everything including exhaust manifolds….he paid $1,500 for the motor and installed it and tuned it himself. I’ll be swapping for a 6.0l down the road myself. People are running high 12’s all day long in them with just just bolt-ons and a stall and mid-low 12’s with a cam.
