View Full Version : New personal best
BigRed 09-11-2004, 02:09 AM I did a new best for the sunflower last week, a 15.51@90.2 mph!
I'm quite impressed, not so much by the et, but by the speed; not bad for a basically stock 2.4(my extensive mods list consists of an intake, and removed tuner tube).
that was done at around 24degrees c; around 1200ft elevation and with full interior and 1/4 tank of gas.
this sunday I'm going to the track again, this time I'm stripping the interior somewhat(spare, jack, seats), having a nearly empty tank, and increasing rear tire pressure/decreasing front. it should also be cooler. I'll post the slip this time.
wish me luck!
loriant 09-11-2004, 11:53 PM definately congrats.

8O holly shitz! 5speed or auto? How many miles in it?
Very impressive times
ZQ8Colorado 09-12-2004, 04:22 PM On an 1/8 mile track I did 10.4 at 66 miles an hour, that's completely stock with an automatic transmission, just jumping on the gas when the light turned green...man I got in a lot of trouble for taking my brand new truck to the track...and the excuse "well at least I wasn't doing it on the road" doesn't help
BigRed 09-12-2004, 06:46 PM 5spd(of course, will never own anything else), 106,000km's(about 66k miles)
well, I didn't exactly make it to the track today, due to massive hangover(damn tequila!) the next meet is in 2 weeks, so I'll be there then.
it should be a bit better then, as the temp should be a fair bit cooler, the track's elevation is about 50feet(no joke), and I'll be lightening up the car a bit. I'm also considering unhooking my alternator belt to free up some power.
SS32687 10-04-2004, 07:59 PM good try buddy i got 14.8 @ 102mph on my sunfire GT 2.4 twin cam 98000 miles on it and it automatic hehe :D twin cam baby i want turbo!
BigRed 10-21-2004, 06:20 PM 14.8? what did you have done to it? I've heard of many people breaking 14's with basic boltons, but all my friends are poor, so we can't do much!
BigRed 10-21-2004, 06:24 PM never mind, I saw your mods in another thread.... I'm skeptical, but I'll have to take your word on it.
RedCavyRS99 10-22-2004, 01:56 PM this is why im going for a motor swap ive gone as far as i can with the 2200 15.3 is its best ever run and the motor has 140k miles on it so needless to say i think its a little worn
BigRed 10-22-2004, 03:19 PM I'd be content if I were you; 15.3 is excellent from a 2200!
excellent job!
RedCavyRS99 10-22-2004, 04:08 PM oh im content with the motor its just i still want more so im taking the next step
zstyle 10-23-2004, 05:06 PM Which engine are you swapping to Jeff, the 2.4 TC or Eco?
RedCavyRS99 10-23-2004, 05:42 PM L67
BigRed 10-23-2004, 06:04 PM good choice:)
I priced the LSJ crate at the dealer yesterday, they want $7495cdn.
RedCavyRS99 10-23-2004, 06:14 PM yeah its not a cheap swap at all but well worth it in the end
zstyle 10-23-2004, 07:15 PM L67
OMG. 8O .
I priced the LSJ crate at the dealer yesterday, they want $7495cdn.
See my comment above.^^
T type Z 01-11-2005, 12:34 PM L67
you might want to think about a 3400 also. i dont know about 3rd gens but in a 2nd gen its by far an easier swap (pretty much only a front mount bracket) and you get pretty much the same performance.

RedCavyRS99 01-11-2005, 04:21 PM a 3400 would be an easier swap but i want the L67 since its already built to take the boost plus who wouldnt want to have more displacement:lol:
rm25x 02-28-2005, 03:53 PM Man I can't wait for spring to take mine to the track. Just think, another 4-8" of snow coming instead
