ok guys here is that video i was talking about. the quality is not too great since the camera was at the beginning of the track and there are people in the way. here is how it went down.
i launched a little better than him and stayed the same through first. in 2nd i pulled some and then really pulled when he hit the rev limiter(you can hear this part). ended up winning by about 4 cars even though you cant really tell. if you look REALLY close you can see me get the win light.
anyway the 2nd race was much better since he drove it much better. still won by about a car, but it felt much better to win when he didnt mess up.http://videos.streetfire.net/video/361089cc-1180-4419-8ba3-984d00290d8c.htm
sorry the second one isnt on video

What time did you run?

i would say it was around 8:15pm. temp was about 70 degrees that night with what felt like kinda high humidity. i really wanna race the 6.0 GTO. even though ill lose, i really wanna see what those beasts have got!

How is your car running with that 2.85" pulley and stock injectors? Have you checked the A/F on that, but non the less deff good shit on the track!

I think he meant what times did you run? As In speed?

its still running incredible, but i dont wanna push my luck too much. i plan to get injectors and a tune very soon. last time i had it scanned everything checked out fine.

exactly.

also times that night were terrible, and not just for me. i dont think anyone ran what they should have that night. i mean, that GTO was running consistent 9.6ish and he didnt seem to be too bad at the driving thing, except for that rev limiter encounter.
best i ran was a 9.3 and thats worse than my stock time. of course my stock time was at a better track and i had newer tires. but speaking of that, i might wanna swap these baldies out.

i had some runs with another cobalt and a redline, but i dont think my buddy filmed those. not that the videos are that great anyway...

I would expect a good driver in a 5.7 to get a 8.6-8.9 in the right conditions, maybe better. But so many things can change that so its hard to say for sure.

short track.

i agree completely which is why i was shocked to see him running those times. but of course i was shocked by my times as well. i should be at the VERY LEAST running 8.9 with some small traction issues, but with a good track and fresh tires i could see even better.
if you look at the conditions though, its no surprise that i handed it to him. as the video says below it, slick track+GTO= SS win. that track is pretty slick indeed and when you have that much power and torque im sure youre gonna spin some in 1st and 2nd, which might explain why he hit that limiter. once he controlled it better the race was of course much closer, but i had a really good run that time as well. at times i felt like i was gonna loose control on that track, its not too great.

short track.
this is true, but the 1/4 really only uses the SS's 1st-3rd gears and just eases the tip of 4th in like a gentleman. i dont know about everyone else, but my 3rd is pretty sick, usually where i pull the most on people. that GTO obviously wasnt modded much if any, so in the 1/4 it would have taken a little more than what he had to make up the 2 car lead i had by the end of 2nd, enough to beat me. none the less a 1/4 mile race would definitely be a good one... REAL good.

Here's a few more I uploaded to streetfire, as you stated the quality sucks, but dark conditions + cheap camera that triples as an MP3 player, Camera, and Video Recorder = poor video. You need to bring your video camera out next time!

just so we are on the same page here, that 2nd video against the civic was not my cobalt. and that is a pretty sweet redline eh?

That guy in the GTO sounded like a mighty poor shifter, it sounded like he hit the limiter twice or something, it didn't sound good.

i agree it sounds weird, but the only reason i believe he only hit it in 2nd is the fact that he kept up waaaaaay better after he got it in 3rd. i could definitely be wrong though, i wasnt in his car. but like i said, he didnt hit it the 2nd race and it was a much better run.

haha yeah i was saying that! well once i started to scream "LEMON!!!" they bent over backwards for me. they did not buy the car back, which is ok, because they swapped out the engine with the phantom coolant leak for a brand spankin new one! the other one started to make a funny clicking noise as well. they also gave me a very nice rental instead of a base cobalt, so that was cool. basically my car has 22000 miles on it and the engine has 4000. this engine seems like it runs better and it performs great. good memory man!
