Ranting about my track times tonight.

I am soo tired of this god damn fwd i cannot for the life of me get better than a 2.355 60 ft time and i've tried dumping i've tried feathering it just won't do it fyi my best run tonight was a 14.0 w/ 2.355 60ft at 102 temps were in upper 80's and humidity around 60%. I think i am done modding the car i see it as no point to try and go faster with 2.3 60 times. And i know if i get slicks i am going to bust some axles, this car is annoying! I need the new camaro asap.

lol gl even without slicks if you hook up you risk snapping ur axles. Im upgrading my clutch flywheel and axels all at the same time just so i dont have to do it later.

If you dont want your SS, I'll take it, lol

Alot of people have the same/similar 60' times, dont bash on yourself just cause you can get a 1.9 second 60' like the pro's do

Its most likely the track you race at . At my local track , the one that convienient and 15 minutes from house I have never did better than 2.30 , with like 2 times I was able to get a very high 2.20's . As a result the best et Ive ever got at that track was a 13.96 . With the averages being mostly 14.teens to 20's ...because I have so much trouble getting the car moving , I usually have to peddle the 1-2 shift too there . Soooo , when I race I drive 2 hours to the track thats prepped really well . I can do 2.teens there in my sleep , and have done as good a 2.0 on radials . There I can qwikly let out the clutch jus off idle , feather the throttle to get it moving and can it waaaay before I can it at the other track . The et drops ALOT as a result

you need to realize that 2.3 isnt bad on the street tires with 18's on 215's...... get a wider tire with a little more sidewall and you can be ok. get a set of drag radials.... ont get slicks, just get DRs. I have hit 2.18 with my stock tires/rims. it was hhharrd. i can hit 2.2 pretty consistanty and thats a great 60ft with the setup these cars come with. a big part with these cars is how you shift too....

First off..how good is your burnout before you stage. Secondly there are other alternatives other than slicks...drag radials...boom traction is your bitch now...of course you can upgrade clutch..dont know if you will see much difference..most important is that you have power and you need to learn how to drive to compensate for that...when i launch the hell out of my 2.2 i bust 2.2 and 2.1 60' but i light my tires up before i stage...last night i saw the weridest thing while doing my burnout my shift and engine light flashed simotaniously FAST...i geared out and everything was good...so work on you burn out to get your tires as sticky as possible and then tear it up down the track..you have high end power remember that

quick question, are you focusing entirely on launching or are you trying to cut a good light as well? Sometimes I would completely ignore the tree and focus entirely on my footwork...it helped a lot. I agree with silver though, track prep could be your problem...especially if you have tried several different techniques. Keep practicing though! I was a track nerd, I was either at HRP or HMP every weekend for two months straight practicing my driving in the Cobalt...so don't give up hope!

If you are doing burnouts on street tires you are wrong. You should go through the water box and spin them a little bit to get the **** off the tires, but that's it.

glockcade, first I would suggest and Ingalls TD or CAB's for the rest of your wheelhop. Snapped axles suck, trust me. Try launing at idle. When the last yellow lights, roll into the gas quickly (don't hammer it though), and a 2.2 60' should be easy. Track prep is key too. Shitty prepped tracks will give you shitty times. Until I get axles that is my launching technique that I have found useful.

Go through the water box with treaded street tires? That's stupid because with treaded tires you get water in the grooves that will hurt your traction- that part only hurts only you. You also hurt the car behind you by bringing water up to the line- never fails some bozo with a 15 second car smokes his street tires in the water box right in front of me and I have to line up out of the groove or go through his water tracks. I would understand if you had slicks on the front and had to drag you rear tires through the water.
