Nitto 555r's, need help.

Alright guys so i finally have some DR's on the way, but i need some help. I know the Nitto 555r's i ordered will need to be heat cycled before going to the track, but i can not find any information on the proper way to heat cycle these tires. I believe there are several people on the site running these tires and i could really use some help becuase i want to get the best performance and life out of these tires. Please share whatever actual knowledge, not opinions, you guys actually have and where you got the information from. thanks

yeah there actually is a difference, 555's are not just purpose built drag tires, 555r's are designed to be drag radials, and the 555 r II's are more road course style tires

I'm running Nitto 555R 245/45R17's I drive on them daily-40PSI... and for Racing... 20 PSI. They work awsome! Not much of a burnout/heat cycle is recuired for these tires to hook well. Obviously, heating them up for say 10 seconds or so will help. You'll love the tires... a huge step up from stock...

why dont you just rotate your stockers? you wouldnt have this issue then. but if you are dying to run better tires up front for daily driving DR's are not the way to go, they have to soft of a sidewall and will wear out to quickly, then again if your rich this probably wouldnt be a problem

you cant rotate the stock ones i tried it and they wobbeled horribly.. i think something about the weight in the tires, it messes up the balancing.. Plus the Pirellis are not that good of a tire mine are humming really bad, the front two are so bald!!! they hydroplane really bad.. But the plain 555's dont seem too bad

dude i dont even have to see your tires to tell you whats going on. that makes no sense that you cant rotate the tires, they are exactly the same. the reason you are getting vibration when you try is because the back tires in all GM fwd cars cup horribly, which is another reason you need to rotate them often. take them off and look at the inside of the tire you will see what im talking about

Just to let ya know, you don't want the 555R's if you drive like an idiot in the rain. They are DR's, not all-season tires. I've driven mine in the rain several times w/ no problem.. you just have to be slow and carefull.

Good point but really with any tire can you say you dont have to be careful. that is why I am going for dry traction. driving in the rain is no fun period. only do it if I have to get somewhere. as for how long the NITTO DR's last if I can get 7500miles out of them I am happy. I expect them to not last. What I expect is to be doing 1.9 or 1.8 in 60feet.

I've got the 555's on the front and the stock pirellis on the back and i havent had any problems at all with them. They arent very good in the rain though like other people have said. They hydroplain bad.

I have street Nitto NT555's and they are awesome tires. I will be buying them again along with getting new 17' SS rims for drags tires only the NT01's

225/45ZR17

my setup on the SS right now is the same except on 18' rims. Of course before I do the switch for nice days/track setup i will already have new tires all around for normal street driving.
