New seat belt law coming in Ontario

So after a horrific accident involving a van with too many passengers and not enough seat belts for them all, the law will be changing in Ontario Canada. Until now you could cram more people into the vehicle than ther are seatbelts as long as the driver could see clearly. I wonder how this law will affect the public transit system(buses etc) and taxi cabs(where you don't have to put on the seat belt)
I'm all for this law as I've seen way too many cars and vans with too many people in them to count. The next law I'd like changed is the cell phones(ban that also- I was recently almost rear ended by a woman in a mercedes on the cell phone with a smoke in the other hand-how the hell can you drive like that???)

having grown up in australia it made my jaw drop for a long time that you can LEGALLY drive your car with a cellphone held to your ear over here.

there are alot of stupid rules in this world but that is just straight up ******* dumb.

and the scary part is....when you talk to people about it here....they will actually try and argue about it.

I put these people in the same basket as people who argue about seatbelts and helmets.

And that basket has a name that says "defective"

I thought that law was already in Canada, at least that is what I always abided by.

They have the 'cellphone law' here in NY state, but good luck seeing it inforced at all. I see at least 10 people a day driving while on their cell phone. That is one of my biggest pet peeves.

It bothers me when someone attemps to cut me off or not give me my turn at a stop sign when their on the PHONE. When I dial my phone I hold it infront of my windshield so that I can see most of the road.

Thus why I'm actually glad I have a 5-speed car... it's significantly more difficult to drive and talk on the phone vs an automatic. Sure, I still talk and drive... but only if someone calls me, and the typical conversation involves me telling them that I'll call them back when I get wherever I'm going.

my friend mastered that technique...kinda funny watchin him....holds the phone to his ear, then just shifts with the phone still in his hand, misses about a second of the conversation whenever he shifts....it looks funny tho
