GMPP Warranty

I'm strongly considering buying a GMPP intake for my 2.2, and my question is has anyone ever had warranty issues with their dealer beacuse of GMPP parts? I know there shouldn't be any issues, because these are GM parts, however I wouldn't put it past some dealers to give us a hard time anyway. Has anyone's dealer ever said "That's a GMPP exhaust so your warranty is voided" or "You installed that GMPP Manifold yourself so its no warrantied."

Before this I had thought about going with the very popular Injen intake, but if I could save some hassle and not have to return my car to stock whenever I need service then I'd rather pay the extra cash for the GMPP part.

To any GM Techs on here... what's your dealerships policy on GMPP parts/service?

Well technically, they have to prove that the aftermarket part caused the failure. So say you got the injen and your MAF went bad, they could deny warranty work. However, if you get lets say the GMPP Performance Cat-back and you MAF goes bad, the MAF will still be covered as the exhuast could not possibly cause a malfunction in the MAF.

Hope that helps a little. I'm not the greatest explainer about cars/aftermarket/warranty, but that is the jist of it.

The company line is technically if you buy a GM part, have it installed by GM techs it will fall under your standard vehicle warranty.

But dont take that as gospel. talk to your dealership. some of them have no clue on what is supposed to be covered and will try and deny claims.

If you find a dealer who knows wtf hes talking about, you will get looked after.
I would suggest getting it in writing on your reciept for installing the part, as a piece of mind safeguard.

More good advice. Talk to them first and see if they will cover it under warranty if they install it. If they do, I'd also suggest getting it in writing, have them date and sign it (maybe on a GM Notepad, if possible) and then if something happens and they deny you work, bust out that little slip of paper (with a supervisors signature) and if they still don't, SUE SUE SUE!!!

I honestly didn't car about my warranty as I will be keeping this car, and I've only a I/E so I'm not too worried, but I guess in your case, it's better to be safe than sorry!

If they can void your warentee for a gmpp performance part or for you putting it on its like them voiding the warentee b/c u didnt get your oil changed at the dealer...point is GM is not a customer friendly company. They sell you a car and then dont give a **** about you.
