Anyone replaced their clutch?
Has anyone replaced their clutch from premature wear? Not from a bad clutch from the factory or because of an upgrade. I'm curious as to how long mine will last. It already slips like a mother in the 1->2 shift when I'm getting on it and you can definitely smell it.
That really sucks. How much would it cost to have someone install a Spec 2+ clutch and how much do they cost? I assume its worth paying someone to do the install vs trying to do it yourself right?
GM charged me $705 bucks to do it. I was the one with the trial and error Clutchmasters Clutch issues so it had to be done a total of three times. I did the first one, GM did the second one, and I did the third one to finally get the job done right with a clutch setup that worked great. (There was design flaws and wrong pressure plates that got sent out at first. Clutchmasters fixed the problems and have dynamite clutch kits now.
I would stay away from Spec as I've heard many people having issues with them. I say go with Clutchmasters or Exedy. TurboTech Racing has them, and they are great to do business with. You're looking at around $650ish for just the clutch. As for the self installation, it is not a job for the novice. It takes a minimum of 6 hours to do, and could take upwards of 10 plus if you don't know what to do.
