(FYI)GM Antenna Thread Change for 07's (Pics)
Ok I have seen 2 Threads today On the 07's having Problems with the Mounting thread being to Fat for the New Antenna Being Put on! This is Not because they are Buying Cheap Antenna's Or What ever! I Believe Gm Has Changed the Thread Size on the 2007 Models!
I Have a 06 SS/SC>>> Built in 10/05.
My wife has A Laser Blue 2.4 SS,>>> Built in June 06, It was Built at the end of the 2006 Build year!
I at 1st thought it was a fluke >>> But after seeing this a couple Times on threads & In person>>>I Figure I would tell Yall what I Know!
MayBe We can get a vendor to check this out! If any sell Antenna's
In this Picture you can see My wifes Car>>> In the Background!

The Shorty in this Picture>>>WILL NOT FIT HER CAR!

The Shorty In the Pic above was Bought at PeP Boys!
To Solve this Problem you will either have to wait for every1 to figure it out or Simply Go to PeP Boys or Sears or What ever get a Tap that Matches the Thread & Tap the Antenna Female end to match the GM Mount on the Car Or Simply Cut it <<But cutting it will affect over all Performance & Reception!

This is fishy
I say that because when you goto Autozone the antennas they sell just say GM,FORD,CHRYSLER, as in they fit all of them and and do not make model specific antennas.
Maybe they did change, buy just an observation.

The thread on the new built cars is a German metric 7mm. Slightly different from the rest of the metric system (higher angle with more threads). I haven't found a tap or anything, so i just capped off the stub.
I tried swapping an antenna from one 06 SS/SC to another one for my buddy the other day, and they were different sizes. Both cars were the same model and year too! They had to order a new one for my buddy since his didn't have the antenna on it.
What he said
. The early 06's have the 6mm and the later 06's and 07's use the 7mmx1.0- 7H threads
GM calls it 1st design and 2nd designs. 1st design 6 2nd design is the 7. Both designs could be found throughout the 06 models.
Or, just buy the 6mm base so you wont have the troubles

Dealer Price $5.39 List Price $9.46 Trade Price $7.09

I had the same problem with my Cobalt LT 2007 because the antenna is 7 mm. I checked specifications and noticed that Silverado 2004-2010 (all models) has the same 7mm antenna, so, I got one from used parts and fits ok.
You realize this thread is from 2007 right? But anyway I bought a shorty antenna from a guy in Canada and then it didn't fit my 2006 LSJ, it was too small. So I just took the $20 hit to my wallet it wasn't worth sending it back
