okay, quick question....anyone know how much HP (approx) the auto tranny LS can take? ive heard i think 250+...anyone know how much +? and will adding a transmission cooler raise this number? if so, by about how much? (going with hayden)

There have been people with the 4T40Es who have surpassed that point and were fine. One example: Ask Aaron @ Turbo Tech Racing, he had a 2.4 Twin Cam auto 4-speed (4T40E) pushing over 300 whp with NO transmission upgrades or cooler.
EDIT: Only reason I mention the 4T40Es is cause they aren't that much different than the 4T45Es as far as strength or design.

The performance shop that is gonna do my turbo set up said I'm fine running 250-300whp and torque. I asked about a tranny cooler and he said its not necessary unless I want one.

He is probably looking for a ratchet shifter. I don't know if it would work since the computers seem to tell the trans when it should shift. Why can't they just let us drive our cars instead of letting computers decide if we are doing something dumb and taking over? sorry, had to get that off my chest.
