I'm in the same boat. I've looked into an aftermarket tranny, but I'm nowhere close to that much horsepower or torque yet.

Not necessarily.

There have been people with the 4T40Es who have surpassed that point and were fine. One example: Ask Aaron @ Turbo Tech Racing, he had a 2.4 Twin Cam auto 4-speed (4T40E) pushing over 300 whp with NO transmission upgrades or cooler.

EDIT: Only reason I mention the 4T40Es is cause they aren't that much different than the 4T45Es as far as strength or design.

There are companies that will help you as far as building your transmission but everything is basically custom. This might help you out some:

The performance shop that is gonna do my turbo set up said I'm fine running 250-300whp and torque. I asked about a tranny cooler and he said its not necessary unless I want one.

He is probably looking for a ratchet shifter. I don't know if it would work since the computers seem to tell the trans when it should shift. Why can't they just let us drive our cars instead of letting computers decide if we are doing something dumb and taking over? sorry, had to get that off my chest.
