chris@hptuners.com is the guys email and just send him your vin. They are going to take the engine platform that gets the most votes and start there first.

I don't see why you can't just enter in your engine type. Not crazy about giving out my vin.

Because they can't trust people to get the right engine/year/pcm so they just want your vin number. Parts of your vin contain your vehicle options and engine/transmission type.

So a Automatic Cobalt with the 2.2 is different calibration than a manual Cobalt with the 2.4.

I would be concerned about posting it here on the forums but just sending an email to a company that does engine management I am not to concerned.

If you don't want to send your vin in thats fine, we just won't get the aftermarket support from HPTuners

Walk into your local Chevy dealer and tell them you lost your key. Give them a name and if the VIN number you also give them matches, they will make you a new key. They are supposed to check ID, but you want to be the guy who's car is stolen because the doofus behind the parts counter forgot to check it?

I would never, ever give out my VIN. Matter of fact, illegal or not, my vehicles have the VIN partially covered with tape.

With the Cobalts anyways , that wont work . Your assigned a secruity code # which the dealer has to call a database with full info to even get cut instructions on how to cut your key .
